As the news broke on Christmas Day, that Willie Costello had passed away so suddenly, everyone’s reaction was one of disbelief.
There were tears shed by many and the word everyone has described him as was “Gentleman”. Willie was a gentleman to the core, a man that never had a bad word to say to or about anyone.
Willie has been involved in every aspect of our club from coaching, mentoring, lotto and executive to name just a few. Willie was the first man to put his hand up to help from stewarding a big game to a clean-up or anything that needed to be done. Willie was a big community man, from helping neighbours in good times and in bad times, local events at the centre the vis-vest was always at hand.
Willie had a genuine love for Ballymac and was so proud of where he came from.
He will be missed terribly, his big Salute, his lovely chats and of course his roguish smile.
Ballymac will not be the same without you.
Rest easy our friend
