Austin Stacks v Ballymac – First Round – Tralee/St Brendan’s Board District League
Our Minor team played in the first round of the Tralee/St Brendan’s Board District league versus Austin Stacks in our first game of the new season in Connolly Park in ideal January conditions on Sunday.
The opening 15 minutes was competitive with both sides knocking away the off-season cobwebs. It was the hosts who had the lead at Half-Time on a scoreline of 0-5 to 0-2
In the second half, this encounter, was very much nip and tuck, with either side capable of claiming the win. Austin Stacks got a vital goal mid-way through the second half but this was soon cancelled out by a fine finish for the visitors from Jack Slattery. Micheal Savage had his scoring boots on with a total of 5 points.
It was Austin Stack who just about got over the line with a final score Austin Stacks 1-09 Ballymac 1-07. Well done to our boys for the effort and application shown.

U7 GIRLS & BOYS
Excellent progress again this year by the under 7 boys and girls. We had 28 players who attended in total with us averaging 18 players on each Sunday. All the basic skills of Gaelic football were coached to the children followed by some fun games and then a 15-minute match at the end of each session. We had some exciting matches against clubs like Austin Stacks, Na Gael, Firies, Killarney Legion and topped with a game against Dr Crokes in Fitzgerald stadium which was memorable day for kids, parents & coaches. A fantastic day was had by all when we were blessed to have the Clifford brothers bring Sam Maguire to the Ballymac pitch and gave us a lot of their valuable time to take pictures and sign jerseys etc. A big thank you to the club for organizing this. A huge thanks to the parents for bringing their kids each week as it was a pleasure to see all those smiles from the players at the end of training sessions and match days. Well done to all the coaches for their hard work and commitment. U9 BOYS Our u 9 Boys commenced Training on Sunday 20th of March under the Guidance of Coaches Donal Rahilly Eddie o Connell Jerry Sugrue and Brian Curran. We trained at the Main pitch on Sunday mornings between 11-12 until the recent early change of 10-11. Training was based around the skills of the Game while having fun, much emphasis was on Team play, kick passing, Hand passing, punt kick, soloing and bouncing (strong and weaker foot) proper pick up, Hook kick, shooting for Scores and Block downs. Under the banner GIVE RESPECT GET RESPECT, our players were encouraged to Respect each other, Respect the Coaches and Respect officials of the Game and this proved a huge success, thanks to all players. Our older players further enhanced their skills by playing some games with the under 11 s and this option worked well as the boys made great progress during the year. We played a lot of mini games to make sure each player touched the Ball regularly improving their touch and improving their skill. In April we started to play Go Games, which the players really enjoyed. We played Go Games against Na Gaeil, John Mitchell’s, Kerins o Rahilly’s, Currow, Listry, killorglin and Ardfert. One of the highlights of the year was the visit of Sam Maguire, and two present Kerry team players David & Paudie Clifford to the academy. Thanks to both players for making the effort to meet our players, much appreciated. We travelled to Churchill to play in the local Blitz in early September. 6 Another highlight of the year was the trip to Fitzgerald stadium to play in the local Dr Crokes Blitz. Our boys really enjoyed this experience and one that they will cherish for some time. In October we travelled to mallow Sports Complex to Compete in the Munster GAA u 9 Go Games Blitz.
