Girls U16 NK League
Ballymac 3-10 Abbeydorney 2-6
Our U16s kicked off the North Kerry League last Tuesday evening at home to Abbeydorney. Due to numbers we played 13 a side & this led to very entertaining game. Abbeydorney were first off the mark with a point from play which they followed up with a pointed free a minute later , we responded with an Eve Creedon goal which was splendidly set up by Emily O Donaghue . Points followed from Aine Rice , Eve Creedon & Lisa Curran . An Abbeydorney goal followed & a great move by our girls following a Maeve O Sullivan interception resulted in Lisa Curran finding the net for Ballymac, Lisa also on free taking duty added 3 more points before half time .Half time score Ballymac 2-6 Abbeydorney 1-4.
From the throw in we attacked & Aisling found Lisa with a clever pass and Lisa in turn passed to Emily O Donaghue who calmly palmed the ball to the net . This coupled with a few defensive switches and Aine Rice to midfield gave us a good platform for the remainder of the game . Lisa went on to dominate the scoring in the 2nd half adding 3 from play and 2 frees in an outstanding display from her which saw her finish with 1-8 on the night .Her other assistant in the full forward line Emily O Donaghue was very influential too on the night and had a hand in a lot of scores . Eve Creedons display at centre forward was crucial too. Defensively in the 2nd half we were very good with Niamh, Sinead and Sophie O Donaghue doing good work marking the Abbeydorney forwards , Aine Rices work rate was exemplary aswell. All in all a very good display on the night . Her other assistant in the full forward line Emily O Donaghue was very influential too on the night and had a hand in a lot of scores . Eve Creedons display at centre forward was crucial too. ERIC MASON MEMORIAL BLITZ
Last Saturday the 02nd of September we hosted the sixth annual Eric Mason tournament which took place on a beautiful day for football. This tournament is in memory of Eric who was a keen footballer and passed to his eternal reward in 2011 at the age of 15. The teams competing on the day were divided into the following groups:
Group 1: Ardfert, Ballymac, Glanmire & Firies
Group 2: Churchill, Dr. Crokes, Keel & Moyvane
This year’s competition was for players in the U12 category and some great football was played on the day despite the poor weather conditions which is a tribute to all the participating clubs. Ballymac and Ardfert started the proceedings and Ballymac got things off to a great start when they won on a score line of 5-07 to 1-01. In the next match Churchill got the better of Keel on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-08. Churchill lost their next game to Dr Crokes on a score line of 1-07 to 1-03. Crokes were to go on and win out their group with further victories against Moyvane and Keel. Ballymac’s next game was against Firies and they were two points down at half time but rallied in the second half to win a close encounter on a score line of 3-05 to 2-04. In their final group game Ballymac played Glanmire from Cork. In an entertaining game where again we came from behind at half time to secure a one-point win on a score line of Ballymac 2-05 to Glanmire’s 2-04 to win their group. With the group stages now complete the line-up for the the semi-finals in the Cup and Shield competitions were known. In the cup competition Ballymac would play Churchill with Dr Crokes taking on Glanmire. In the shield competition Firies would take on Moyvane and Keel would play Ardfert. In the shield competition Moyvane and Keel would advance to the final with comfortable victories in their respective semi-finals. In the shield final Keel would edge a close encounter on a score line of 1-08 to 0-08. Presentations were made by Anna Mason to the winning Keel players and the Runners up Moyvane.
In the first semi-final in the cup competition Ballymac took on Churchill in what turned out to be a very close encounter played in terrible conditions. Ballymac were ahead at most stages in this game but a late Churchill goal tied the game up at 3-05 to 3-05 at full time. Extra time was required to separate the teams and Churchill struck an early goal which proved to be the vital score. They went on to win the game by 2 points on a score line of Ballymac 4-05 to Churchill’s 4-07. In the second semi-final Dr Crokes were too strong for Glanmire and the won comfortably on a score line of 4-08 to 1-05. An excellent final ensued where neither side could be faulted for their endeavour. Dr Crokes put together some beautiful passages of play and at the final whistle they were the deserving winners on a score line of 4-08 to 0-08 to claim the cup. Presentations were made by Anna Mason to the winning Dr Crokes players and the Runners up Churchill, referees, and to the player of the tournament Billy Walsh from Churchill. Thanks to all the participating Clubs who contributed to a fantastic day of football. A special thanks to all involved within the club and the parish that helped make this a very successful tournament.

FAOI 14
On Wednesday night last Ballymac qualified for the Castleisland District A final where they will play the combination team of Knock/Brosna/Duagh at a date and venue to be confirmed. It took Ballymac a while to settle into this game with Desmond’s getting the better of the early exchanges but the concession of three first half goals put an early end to this contest and with a strong 28 player panel in attendance it gave us great opportunity to get everyone game time. A much improved performance from all was most welcomed and we now look forward to playing in the Castleisland District Final on Sunday the 03rd of September. The final score was Ballymac 5-13 to Castleisland Desmond’s 2-06.
We played the Tralee Town League Final in Caherslee last Sunday morning and it was a very welcome victory for our 14s. Both teams were well up for this match and the first half proved to be a very competitive with a half time score of Ballymac 2 07 Rahillys 3 02. Ballymac boys again conceded somewhat soft goals which kept Rahillys very much in this game especially where Rahillys used their counter attacking game to great benefit. Second half saw much more composed and controlled performance from Ballymac where with a few personnel and positional changes saw Ballymac gain full control of the game and limit Rahillys to only 2 points in the second half. Ballymac showed greater desire and work rate to ensure that captain Adam Walker would be the one lifting the trophy at the end of 60mins of football. Great joy for Ballymac to reach and win their first title for 2017. Well done to all players and management team involved. The final score was Ballymac 3-15 to Kerins O’Rahillies 3-04.

Blue Team
Ballymac made it three wins in a row last Monday evening in the central region when we beat John Mitchels away from home. We were well on top from the start and in fact should have been out of sight at half time but failed to take glorious scoring opportunities. We stepped up our game in the second half and goals from Raymond Lowe and Michael Prendergast and a great point from Sam Mansfield sealed the victory. Overall this was a great team victory with excellent work rate shown throughout. Well done to everyone on the team. The Final score was John Mitchels 2-06 to Ballymac’s 4-09.
Gold Team
Our Gold Team played Cromane away last Monday evening last. The game was competitive throughout but we came up a just short on a score line of Cromane 3-10 to Ballymac 3-08.
