Coaching & Games
This Wednesday 15th April @7:30pm Kerry Senior S&C coach Niall o’ Mahony will be facilitating an online coaching webinar through Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams can be used on your laptop, phone and smart device.
Niall will focus the webinar on Small Sided Games as well as his own experiences and coaching methods for roughly 20-25 minutes.
He will also have a live Q&A through the live chat after this presentation.
**It is vitally important for each coach to send their email address to tom.joy.gda.kerry@gaa.ie in order to receive an invite for the webinar and also to be able to log in.
If a coach does not receive the link for the webinar through email then they cannot get access to it.
We are really looking forward to listening to Niall’s experiences and coaching ideas and hopefully we might get to put these into practice sooner rather than later out on the field.GAA Nationally have excellent pastimes

Health & Wellbeing Committee
SHINE A LIGHT
Last Saturday night everyone in the Country shone a light for all of those who died over the past few weeks and also for our frontline workers who are doing so much to save lives.
Our Health & Wellbeing Committee under Chairperson Oonagh O’Rahilly put a lovely video together of the various lights lit in the parish of Ballymacelligott. A special word of thanks to Denis Griffin who’s expertise was invaluable. It was a lovely thing to do and share with the members of the community who are cocooned at home and for our Diaspora who were able to see their parish lit up for Easter. It can be accessed via our Clubs Social Media.
Stress Control programme available over the next few weeks online.
Feeling a little overwhelmed with lock-down? Fear or anxiety creeping into your daily life? This is not uncommon in these uncertain times. COVID 19 has brought with it a lot of stress, but the good news is that stress is something that you can control.
HSE and Health and Wellbeing are offering a Stress Control programme online, commencing Monday 13th April 2020, via www.stresscontrol.org.
This 3 week programme is for adults aged 18 and over.
It is FREE of charge to the public and delivered by Dr.Jim White, consultant clinical psychologist (and creator of the programme).
Why not give it a go! It costs nothing but could help a lot.
Sessions are from 2.oopm to 3.30pm or from 8.30 to 10.00pm each day
Click on this link for full information.
Early next week, Our Health & Wellbeing Committee will forward information re exercise and older people.
It would be very beneficial for those cocooning at moment and has been devised by physiotherapists. These will be available via our Social Media.

Community Call Initiative
The Community Call, a major initiative that links local and national Government with the community and voluntary sectors, was announced during the week by our Government.
The Community Call is an unprecedented mobilisation of both state and voluntary resources to combat the effects of COVID-19.
The purpose of the Community Call is to coordinate community activity, direct community assistance to where it is needed, and marshal the volunteering energy of the country.
The immediate focus is on the elderly and the most vulnerable, and mobilising rapid response in every county to make sure everyone is looked after. In the coming weeks the focus will expand to broader the wellbeing of our society and how communities can work together to help the country through the Covid-19 crisis. The ‘Community Call’ booklet will be delivered to households later in the week and if anyone needs access the pdf is also on our web site: www.ballymacgaa.com
Our Sponsors
Over the years we have had unrivalled support from our local businesses big and small. In many of our fundraisers they ran the fundraisers for us and have been more than generous with both their time and their financial support. Right now many of them are closed and are uncertain about their immediate and long term future. We want to express our solidarity with all of them at this unprecedented time and we look forward to supporting them all whole heartily when they once again open their doors for business.
Keep practicing the below and play your part by :
– Reduce social contacting – stay apart but stay in contact with family, friend & neighbours
– Distance yourselves 2 metres from people in shops and supermarkets
– Stop shaking hands
– Avoid touching our eyes, nose or mouth
– Washing our hands regularly and practice cough and sneeze hygiene
– Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
– Work from home where possible
Remember to keep a record of everyone you met
We have been sent a suggestion that all people should be encouraged to keep a diary of all places they visit and a list of the people they have physical contact with on a daily basis.
If this is taken on board, it would reduce the workload of those working tirelessly with the job of Contact Tracing in the weeks ahead.
If this message was sent to all Groups, Clubs, Societies and all in turn sent this message to all their members this would make a big difference in identifying people who needed to be contacted and reduce the workload of Contact Tracing.
I hope that you will pass on this message to family and friends once you have started your own diary.
