Senior Team News
A thrilling contest in difficult conditions ended in a deserved draw 1-9 apiece between Ballymac and Dromid Pearses.
The game started in dramatic fashion when a quick free caught the Ballymac men unaware only for Dromid to spurn the glorious goal chance. Awoken by this near miss, some magnificent support play and running enabled the men in blue to chip over the first four points of the game.
The men from South Kerry to their credit would not throw in the towel and chipped away at the lead before a long ball into the full forward line was expertly caught and dispatched to the net to leave the teams level. Both teams traded points before Ballymac missed a glorious goal chance leaving Dromid in the lead by a point at the break.
Ballymac came out of the break like men possessed, tearing into the opposition. A long ball into the opposition goalmouth was scrambled to the net and the men in blue started to dominate possession.
However the men from South Kerry were stubborn and forced numerous turnovers to leave the teams level going into the last few minutes.
Ballymac would ruefully spurn another goal chance before taking the lead but the men from the south would not be denied and wonderful long range point would leave the teams level at the finish, 1-9 each.
Next Sunday we travel to Gneeveguilla to play the home team in Round 2 of The League. Any support you can give is always appreciated by the team and management.
Minor Team
Match Report on Minor Football League Div 3A
Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane 1-03
Ballymac 4-08
After the calling off of the first two rounds of the County League due to poor weather our minors eventually got their campaign off to a winning start on Saturday last in what has to be said as some of the worst weather conditions possible.
Credit must go to Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane on presenting their field in a top class condition.
Ballymac played with a gale force breeze in the first half and raced into a lead of 1-2 to no score, taking some very good scores in the process.
Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane fought back hard and after some great pressure won a penalty which was well converted. They then followed it up with a well taken point.
Our lads kept plugging away and some great pressure on Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane saw Ballymac turn the ball over in the middle of the field on numerous occasions.
Ballymac led 2-5 to 1-1 at half time.
We came out in the second half and played into that very strong breeze.
Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane came at us strong but did not knock a stir out of our lads who carried some great ball into the breeze converting 2-3 in the process and holding Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane to 2 points in the second half.
Credit has to go to all players for turning out such a great display in some of the most extreme conditions imaginable.
Next up is Fossa away next week.– Fossa V Ballymac at 4pm in Fossa on Saturday 14th March. All support very welcome.

U14 Boys
Our U14 Boys were once again disappointed as their game V Churchill on Sunday morning was cancelled due to the poor weather conditions. It has been a nightmare season for our U14 competition in Coiste Trá Lí and hopefully the weather will be kinder next week. Round 1 has been refixed for next Sunday 15th March at 11.00am when our boys will play Ardfert in Ardfert.
U12 Boys Teams
Our lads have been training very well since early February on the fantastic Astroturf pitch in Castleisland.
Our first competition this year is the Tralee Town League.
Round one was scheduled for a trip to Na Gael on the 4th of March but was called off due to pitch conditions.
We had our first taste of competitive football in 2020 when we travelled to John Mitchels to play in round 2 of the Tralee Town League. Our under 12 blue team were up first in what were very challenging conditions with strong winds and driving rain. John Mitchells had the wind to their advantage in the first half and despite our best efforts they built up a large lead. Ballymac battled bravely to the final whistle but were unable to make up the deficit . Players that impressed were John Leen, Eoghan Joy, Jamie Tarrant and Matthew O’ Connor.
Our U11 gold team were up next and after winning the toss opted to play with the wind in the first half. We got off to a flier of a start with great scores from Liam Rahily, Jackson Brosnan, Conor Lynch and Ryan Burke. Mitchels came back at us hard but despite the driving rain we dug deep and finished up winners on a scoreline of 5:14 to 5:12.
Next Sunday the teams are down to play Austin Stacks at 4pm at home.
