Ballymac 2-11 Abbeydorney 5-9
Another cracking final involving the 2 clubs that went to extra time took place in Ballymac Sunday evening 22nd . The home side should have won this in normal time really but a combination of bad luck , missed chances and a tiny lack of composure at vital times ensured that we’d extra time & Abbeydorney took their chances in that period with clinical precision .
Ballymac started the game in great fashion & cut open the Abbeydorney defense easily a few time creating good goal chances but luck wasn’t on our side as Elle Mc Elligott & Emily O Donaghue hit the post , Eve Creedon hit the crossbar ! A’dorney’s first attack saw them hit the net , we responded with a good free from Lisa Curran following a foul on Eve , good combination from Elle Mc Elligott , Lisa & Emily ended in Emily smashing the ball home for our 1st goal of the game . The teams traded scores , with Aine Rice getting 2 good scores from play , Emily and Lisa added one each to leave half time 1-5 to 1-4 .
2nd half saw Abbeydorney kick 2 points from frees to edge them 1 ahead . Elle Mc & Aisling O Connell were having a great contest at midfield with their direct opponents , good work from Sinead Mc Keowan at the back ended with Eve Creedon kicking the ball over the bar Elle Mc followed up with a score shortly afterwards . Another Abbeydorney goal saw them lead by 2 mid way through the game . A good move starting from Niamh Rahilly breaking out of defense saw Elle fouled 30yds out , she took the free herself & the ball found Emily who cracked home a great goal , Ballymac up 1 ! Teams swapped scores with Emily O Donaghue getting a point for Ballymac to leave it tied with 5 to go , Lisa kick a good free to put is up 1 but a great free by Abbeydorneys no 14 ensured level pegging again with 2 mins to go . The Ballymac girls created 2 good chances , a goal chance fell to Emily who slipped while kicking & the ball trickled wide & Lisa had a free at the death that didn’t make the distance. Ref Donal Casey blew the whistle to send game into extra time .
1st period saw Abbeydorney goal early on but the Ballymac girls responded bravely to get 2 points thro’ Emily & Lisa . In the 2nd period Abbeydorney seemed to have the legs on our girls & 2 more goals saw them finish winners .
The Ballymac girls were great on the night , all played their hearts out bravely on the night and represented the club with pride . Though not finishing on the right side at the end of the game they can all hold their heads high with their performance in what was a competitive & physically demanding game . Abbeydorney also contributed to the quality of the game too on the night & were clinical when it mattered .

Under 14 Ladies
We hosted Abbeydorney in the Division 1 North Kerry League Ladies under 14 final on Sunday last . Ballymac had already beaten the visitors in an earlier round of the league so Abbeydorney were out to reverse the result.
With three Kerry under 14 panellists on the Abbeydorney team our girls had to put in a big performance again to come away with the spoils. The first half was all about the Abbeydorney girls who went in at half time leading by eight points, on a scoreline of 2-2 to 3-7. Some great points were taken throughout the course of the first half with our first goal coming from Emily O Donoghue and the other 1-2 coming from the boot of Cora Savage. Halftime came at a good time for our girls to regroup and ‘re focus, and this they sure did, out scoring the Abbeydorney girls 2-7 to 0-5 points to leave the fulltime score level after an excellent game of football. Kate O Connor struck for a goal early in the second-half quickly followed by another from Emily O Donoghue to close the gap to a point after Cora setting our opening score of the half. It was game on at this stage and it was nip and tuck all the way to the finish. Our backs had great second half, and Emily O Brien and Sinead McKeown dominating mid field for large periods. Up front Cora Savage chipped in with 0-5points in the second period, three frees, along with a point each from Kate O Conor and Sinead. Alyssa Leen was also doing an amount of work on the wing driving us forward at every opportunity
Two periods of five minutes a side were played in extra time and after a driving run Alyssa Leen drove the ball over the bar to the delight of the Ballymac team and supporters. In fairness to the Abbeydorney girls they never gave up and equalised with the last kick of the game. Referee Seamus Mulvihill blew the whistle for full time and so the teams must meet again . No time and date has yet been fixed for the replay.
