Round 5 of The Senior County League
Ballymac v Glenflesk
Saturday 26th of May
On what was a a warm summer evening Ballymac were host to Glenflesk in the 5th round of the county league .
Glenflesk opened the scoring with a well taken free kick by Darragh Roche awarded only seconds into the game which was quickly followed by a responding point form Ballymacs Aiden Breen and another from Dara Keane. Already Ballymac were in a position to dominate this game and held strong for the entire first half defending well each team scoring point for point and keeping the scoreline level throughout but when Glenflesks Darragh Roche did manage to break through the Ballymac defence and score an outstanding goal the Ballymac side were not to be deterred when Vinnie Horan score 2 well earned goals to go into the break in the lead . A special mention has to be given to the Ballymac Goal keeper Brian Lonergan who pulled off an almighty save when the Glenflesk side attempted to go into te break with a goal in hand only to be denied by the talent of this new young Goal Keeper.
The half time score was 2-06 to Ballymac to Glenflesks 1-08
The second half was always to be tense affair with all to play for and the vistors were taken by surprise when Ballymacs Dara Keane made his way past the Glenflesk keeper and within only 20 seconds into the half he scored a well placed goal leaving them to dominate the scoreboard from the beginning. Each team fought hard throughout the remaining 30 minutes with points from Ballymacs Vinnie Horan and Genie Griffen but the Glenflsk side were not to be taken down easily and fought back by scoring scoring 7 points from the ever talented Darragh Roche , Micheal O’Shea and Jeff O’Donoghue.
At the full time whistle however the game finished level but it was not from the lack of each team working hard to take away a win.
The final score was Ballymac 3-09 and Glenflesk 1-15
We would like to wish Glenflesk team and management all the best in the season ahead.

Community Games
Pride of place this week goes to our u16 Boys Basketball team who were crowned Community Games National Champions over the weekend.
In their semi final on Saturday against Malahide of Dublin they ran out 48-37 winners following a game that was much closer than the final score would suggest.
This qualified them for the Final on the Sunday against Maree of Galway where another ding dong battle took place. Our boys showed great heart and skill to ensure that when the final buzzer went it was they who would be going home with the Gold medals winning on a 48-44 scoreline.
Certainly this is a marvellous achievement by all involved to bring an All Ireland title to the Parish.
Special mention must be made of coach Jack Culloty who has put in hours of preparation to achieve this accolade.
