Round 10 of the Senior County League
Kilcummin V Ballymac
Referee – Billy O’Shea
Our seniors travelled to Kilcummin on Saturday night to take on an in form Kilcummin team who recently took County Intermiediate Championship honours and are also pushing hard for promotion to Division 1. The game started pretty evenly but half ways through the first half Kilcummin started to dominate with players like Gary O Leary, Donal Maher and Shane McSweeney all getting the better of our own lads. Kilcummin goaled towards the end of the first half which left a mountain to climb for Ballymac in the second half on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-5 in favour of the home team.
Ballymac came out after half time much more eager than the first half and got the first few scores. The game was pretty even throughout with our lads probably edging the second half but unfortunately the damage was done in the first half. Our lads tried as hard as they could but it was one of those games when nothing went right for us. The final scoreline was 1-17 to 1-10 in favour of the home team.
Next up for Ballymac is a tough Tralee championship game against neighbours Austin Stacks. Hopefully some amends can be made for the County League loss earlier in the year so your support once again will be much appreciated.

Our U14 Team took on Kerins o Rahilly’s in the last round of the Division one Central Region game in Balllymac . Nothing separated the teams early on , Ballymac despite missing a few regulars were unlucky not to be well ahead when Luke o Connell burst through the Rahilly’s Defence only for both shots to go narrowly wide . James Kenny was solid at centre back & Mossie Brennan was outstanding on Kerins o Rahilly’s Danger man up front . Kerins O Rahilly’s led at the Break by 4 points . Kerins o Rahilly’s started well in the second half & took the Game to Ballymac . 10 mins into the second half they led by 7 & look to be on their way to success but Ballymac had other ideas . A Goal & 3 points within 12 mins had the minimum between the teams & all was set for a grand stand finish . However Kerins O Rahilly’s dug deep and scored to run out winners with 5 points to spare .
Having reached the playoffs, Our U 14s were drawn against Austin Stacks in the quarter final . The Rockies were quick off the mark & led by 5 points after 10 mins . Ballymac were slow to settle , but a Goal by Maurice O Connell seemed to settle the team and we were 4 points in arrears at the interval . Eoin Creedon was outstanding in this half in defence and kept us in the game .
We came out in the second half with much more urgency, and began to take the Game to the Rockies . Good delivery from defence from James Kenny gave us a good platform for driving foward . Donal Daly & Luke o Connell thundered into the Game . A cracking goal from Luke gave us the lead , Two super points from Donal Daly & Skye Lynch with a fisted goal put 6 points between the teams . Andy Rogers & Sean Rice began to Dominate their opponents and this helped us to keep the pressure on Austin Stacks . But fair play to Stacks , they hit back with a goal & 2 points to leave the minimum between the sides . However our Defence of Jamie Sugrue mossie Brennan & Luke & Aidan Horgan tightened up immensely to keep the stacks at bay & we held on to win by a point . Thanks to Austin Stacks for a sporting Game & all parents for their support on the night . We play Kerins O Rahilly’s on Monday night next in the semi final of the Division one central Region . Best of luck to everyone on the night .

Ballymac U16’s played their fourth county league game on Tuesday 24th of July against Currow in Ballymac. They were unbeaten coming into this game , having two wins against Churchill and Fossa and a draw against Kilcummin. This however proved to be a much tougher task and Ballymac came out second best on this occasion.
The home side were missing many of their regulars and had just fifteen players on the night. Currow were much physically stronger than us and this was evident from the start. The visitors had 1.5 on the scoreboard , 1.4 coming from their full forward before Ballymac registered their first score with a point from Jonathan Lowe. Currow responded with another goal. Two pointed frees from Dara Broderick and a goal from Adam o Keeffe left the half time score at Ballymac 1.3 — Currow 2.4
The second half continued on the same vein as the first. Ballymac tried hard but they could not get to grips with a much stronger Currow side. Currow scored 3.10 in the second half to Ballymac’s 1.5 . This left the final score at Ballymac 3.9 , Currow 5.14
Ballymac Team : Eoghan Kenny, Mossie Brennan, Ciaran Brosnan, James Kenny, Daragh Leen, James Bailey, Jonathan Lowe, Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Dara Broderick, Luke O Connell, Denis Brosnan, Adam Joy, Adam Sheehy, Adam O Keeffe, Sean Horan
