Ballymac 2 10 Laune Rangers 1 15
Our U14s bowed out of Central Region Div 1 at the semifinal stage knowing well that this is a game they had enough chances to win, especially given our second half display that this team has been showing signs of putting together over the last few weeks. The half time score of Ballymac 0-3 points to Rangers 0-10 points mainly came from a 12-minute period where Ballymac lost their way and shape allowing Rangers to pin us into our own half and kick 7 points in a row. Ballymac resumed the second half with purpose and belief in themselves and played their best 30 minutes of football all year, kicking some wonderful points and scoring two cracking goals. It was against the run of play when our opposition got into the Ballymac half, which saw Rangers score a fortuitous goal, which was the difference between the sides at the full time whistle. Ballymac have benefited hugely from playing in the top tier of football and after this performance, we now know and have belief that their day in a Div 1 final is not too far away. We have to extend our gratitude to all present from Laune Rangers for their assistance in helping us deal with an incident where one of our own players unfortunately was transported by ambulance to hospital following an accidental collision nearing the end of the game. Their quick response in getting local doctor, Gardaí and medics to the pitch and the assistance from Ballymac parents/mentors was most reassuring to the player and his parents.
