Senior Ladies
Our Senior Ladies travelled to Finuge on Sunday afternoon to take on Finuge/St Senan’s in
Round Two of the Credit Union Donal Curtin Cup.
The home side opened the scoring with a point, but Ballymac proceeded to dominate the
remainder of the half and at the midway point led on a 4-6 to 0-2 scoreline.
By half time we had extended the lead 5-8 to 0-3. Roisin Rahilly (3) and Kate Collins (2) our
goal scorers.
Finuge/St Senan’s came more into the game in second half and outscored us, however our
excellent first half performance ensured victory on a 5-12 to 1-8 scoreline.
Team Kerry Hennessey, Claire Kenny, Niamh Rahilly, Anna Collins, Emma Daly, Una
Morrissey, Grainne Galvin, Ashling O Connell, Ellie McElligott, Lisa Curran (0-1), Sarah
Scanlon, Kate Collins (2-6), Tina Quinn, Roisin Rahilly (3-3), Ella Quirke (0-2)
Subs Laura Kelly, Aoife Galvin, Robyn White, Aoibheann Broderick.
Minor Ladies
Ballymacelligott LGFA v Glenflesk LGFA
On a very heavy Glenflesk pitch, our Minor Ladies played their first game of the season.
Wearing our change strip of yellow as it was our home game and Glenflesk play in similar
colours, we were very slow to start and found ourselves 1-4 to a solitary Kate Collins point
down at the end of the first quarter. The Glenflesk goal coming from a penalty. From here
though the Ballymac ladies went on to 1-4 without conceding a score to lead by a point after
24 minutes of play. Our goal coming from Rachel Creedon, with points from Jill Quirke,
Anna Collins and two more from Kate, including one handpassed point. Glenflesk were able
to stem the Ballymac tide with a fine point, but Rachel Creedon notched two more goals to
claim a first half hat-trick, the second after an exquisite 45’ ball/move that completely opened
up the Glenflesk defence. However Glenflesk scored a breakaway goal right on halftime to
leave the score 2-6 to 3-5, in favour of Ballymac, at the short whistle.
The second half began with a point for Glenflesk, leaving just the minimum between the
sides. Then came the key moment that changed the game, Glenflesk were awarded a
penalty…. Goalkeeper Aoibhinn Broderick stood tall and made a great save to deny
Glenflesk. After that Glenflesk only scored one more point to the Ballymac ladies 2-5. With a
superb second half defensive performance from Jamie Lee O’Connor, Laura Kelly, Anna
Collins, Sarah O’Rourke, and Maire Culloty, with another couple of good saves from
Aoibhinn, midfield now dominated by Sarah Scanlon and Rachel Griffin, Ballymac really
turned the screws on Glenflesk. Scores coming from Sarah Scanlon with 1 goal and two
frees, another goal from Anna Collins, 2 more points from Kate Collins and a second point
for Jill Quirke. The hard work done by Emma Daly and Michelle O’Connor was vital to our
cause and made a number of the scores for their fellow forwards.
Squad as follows, Aoibhinn Broderick, Jamie Lee O’Connor, Laura Kelly, Anna Collins,
Sarah O’Rourke, Maire Culloty, Rachel Griffin, Sarah Scanlon, Rachel Creedon, Emma Daly,
Kate Collins, Michelle O’Connor and Jill Quirke.
Our Next Game is Tuesday 16th April. Please Come and support the ladies.

Minor Boys
Rathmore GAA v Ballymacelligott GAA – Minor – Div 2 Semi-Final
Rathmore GAA 2-5 (11)
Ballymac GAA 2-11 (17)
Our Minor team played Rathmore on a damp, blustery evening in Rathmore GAA grounds on
Monday, 8th of April in the semi-final of Division 2 of the county league.
In the first half, both sides went at it in a nip and tuck affair, and it was the home side who hit
the back of the net first to really bring the game to life. However, Ballymac also looked very
threatening going forward with a goal line clearance saving the day for the home side. Both
Jack Joy & Michael Quirke kept the scoreline ticking over but it was the clinical Jack Joy
who eventually found the back of the net with a fine finish into the bottom right corner.
Ballymac lead at Half Time 1-07 to 1-02.
The second period continued to be a physical battle in tough under foot conditions. Both sides
got an additional goal with Jack Joy converting from the penalty spot for the visitors. The
imposing full forward Luke Griffin also got on the scoresheet in the second period. After a
bruising encounter, we came away with the victory on a final scoreline of Rathmore 2-5
Ballymac 2-11.
A Notable mention goes to Jack Joy who had 2-8 points in the finish. Also, great
performances from Eoin Moriarty in the middle of the field with midfield partner Stephen
Turner and our full back Eoghan Joy who helped neutralise Rathmore’s full forward.
This win sets up a County Final with Laune Rangers. Please keep an eye on our social media
channels over the coming days with further details.
Jack Joy (2-8) Michael Quirke (0-2) Luke Griffin (0-1)
