Senior Ladies
Bons Secours Junior A Championship
Round 5
A comprehensive victory was what was needed today after the heartbreak of last week’s game versus Spa and a comprehensive victory is what this fantastic group of ladies delivered.
The final score of 9-12 to 4-7, will go a long way towards reducing the points difference that we have with our rivals at the top of the table, as we look to secure a home semi-final for the 4th year in a row.
Squad was as follows, Robyn White, Kerry Hennessy, Emily O’Brien, Niamh Rahilly, Anna Collins (0-1), Emma Daly, Ciara Kerins, Caoimhe Carroll, Una Kerins (1-1), Rachel Griffin, Aishling O’Connell (0-1), Eve Creedon, Ellie McElligott (0-2), Roisin Rahilly (2-2), Keelin Enright (1-3), Rachel Creedon (3-0), Lisa Curran (0-1), Veronica Heaslip, Jill Quirke, Ellie Sugrue, Kate O’Connor (1-0), Ella Quirke and Kate Collins (1-1).
U16 Ladies
Our u16 Ladies took on Kerins O’Rahillys in a Round One game of Division Two of the North Kerry League on Wednesday evening last.
When these two sides met in the Co League earlier in the Year they served up a cracking game and once again both sides made little of the damp conditions to provide great entertainment.
The Tralee side had the better of the opening half and led at the break on a 2-4 to 1-4 scoreline.
Our Girls upped a gear in the second half and with 5 minutes remaining led 3-8 2-8,our defence had to be resolute to keep our lead intact and when our forwards were presented with two goalscoring chances they rattled the net to see us run out nine point winners.
Minor Boys
Ballymacelligott GAA v Killarney Legion GAA – Minor –
Group B – Semi Final – Club Championship
Ballymacelligott GAA 5-09 (24)
Killarney Legion GAA 1-09 (12)
Our Minor team played Killarney Legion on a dry, blustery afternoon at home on Saturday, 16th of September in the Semi Final of Group B of the Minor Club Championship.
In the first half, it was the home side who took it to the visitors with some attacking play. Micheal Savage contributed with 2 well taken scores in the opening period & also the ever-creative Jack Joy converted from the penalty spot which left the score at the interval 1-05 to 0-5 to the home side.
The first 15 minutes of the second half is when the game was truly put beyond the visitors with the offensive pair of Jamie Burke & Ciarán O’Connell causing the visitors all sorts of problems. Both men ended up with 1-02 on the scoresheet. The best move of the game was the combination between Captain Conor Martin and Ciaran to finish a move of high pace & quality in the back of the net by Ciarán.
Ballymac were well deserved victors after a fine display however plenty to work on ahead of the final. Our minors march on to the decider which is a great achievement by this group of players. Our minors join our seniors in competing in a club championship final which is fantastic for our club. Details of the final will be confirmed in the coming days but is likely to be next weekend. All support for these fine group of young men would be greatly appreciated once details are confirmed. Ballymac ABU!!!
Jack Joy (2-00), Jamie Burke (1-02), Ciaran O’Connell (1-02), Micheal Savage (0-3), Shane Gilroy (1-0), Mairtin Mc Kivergan (0-1), Luke Silles (0-1)
Under 14 Girls
The U14 North Kerry league started this evening with a home game against Abbeydorney. Well done to the girls after a poor first half display with some bad wides and poor decision making, we were 7 points down at the break. The second half started with 2 quick goals which gave the team great confidence and they pushed on from there winning out on a score line of Ballymac 10:11 to Abbeydorney 5:09.
U12 LGFA
Carmel OConnor Blitz
On Saturday our u12 ladies participated in a fun blitz, hosted by Desmonds. 8 teams, 3 games, and were presented with medals by Kerry Senior players Aisling OConnell and Eilish Lynch. A really good experience.
U13 LGFA Championship.
A very young Ballymac team , went down to much better Austin Stacks team on Sunday evening. Though we battled bravely, we could not compete with our opponents. No complaints on that front. Well done girls
Best of luck to Stacks in the next round.
Under 15 boys
Ballymac U15 boys play Cordal in the castleisland District final in Knocknagoshel at 6pm next friday evening all support welcome
Under 13 boys
U13 Castleisland District Semi Final
On Tuesday night we hosted Scartaglin in perfect conditions for football. From the throw in the boys tore into this match and two early goals from Patrick and Daniel set the tone for a
dominant first half display that saw huge work rate all over the field. Our defence was excellent and stand in keeper Flynn Boyle put in an excellent performance., Two further goals by Ciaran ensured we had a comfortable lead at have time but to Scartaglin’s credit they never gave up and came back into the game in a more competitive second half.
By the end of the game all our subs played a part and really kept the energy levels high. We had a total of 9 scorers on the night with some wonderful points kicked from play which is great to see and we ran out winners on a scoreline of 5-17 to 0-11.
Under 11 boys
On Sunday morning the 17th September our U11 boys played in the final of the Castleisland district against a strong Scartaglin. They previously played against Knocknagoshel, Brosna and Cordal to get to this final. It was an entertaining game and the boys played their hearts out but unfortunately it didn’t go our way on the day. Thanks to all the supporters.
U9 boys
Well done to our u9 boys who played 6 very competitive games in Ardfert Blitz Sunday morning. Great skills and fantastic team work were on display. The boys have improved massively over the months. Thanks to Ardfert for hosting and to the parents for driving.
