Jer Lynch : Chairman’s Address to AGM 2019.
I would like to welcome ye all here to our Annual General Meeting. It’s great to see so many people here in attendance.
Firstly, I would like to thank every single one of you and everyone who has helped out over the past three years.
Our Senior Team narrowly lost out in promotion to Division 1 and were unlucky in the Club Championship. All said it was a great year for them and they were a credit to the club. I wish to thank Frank O’Rahilly , Tom Shea, Ruraí O’Rahilly and George Savage for all their work all year. Also the senior players who have given so much time to the club and have supported the club in so many ways all year. We thank them for running the Players Draw, Thanks To Cian Counihan for his work with the juvenile teams and to all the players who helped out with Academy. Mark Thompson our Physio for the year was excellent and its great to report that we had no serious injuries this year. Thanks to our water boy Tom Long who was at every game.
Its always a dream for any player to play with Kerry and I want to congratulate all our players who represented Kerry this year . Its always a proud moment to be at a Kerry game, at any level , and see a Ballymac lad wearing the County colours. Well done to you all.
I congratulate Daire Keane for his exploits on the Handball Counts and for representing Ireland in the USA during the year.
I wish to say Thanks and well done to Declan O’Connell & Ger Collins on taking over as Chairman and Secretary of Coiste na nÓg this year. They had a great year and Ballymac Coiste na nÓg did us proud on and off the field all year.
Our Field Committee of Tony Silles, Kieran Savage, Padráig Laide for all their great work over the year. The two grounds are looking in excellent shape. Also I would like to thank Noel Leen for the great shape he keeps the field in. Noel goes about his work every week.
We are very grateful to all our sponsors especially Ballygarry House Hotel for the New Electronic Scoreboard, Teresa Walker and Lee Strand, Cassidy’s and The Blasket for their loyalty and support for years.
I want to thank our Lotto Committee led by Mike Sweeney, Lotto sellers and everybody who helps out with the lotto in any way and all the venues that host us on the various nights. Kielduff Community Centre, Halfway Bar, O’Riadas Bar and Ballygarry House Hotel. Joe and Helen Leen who are the drop off and collection points for the lotto each week and Horan’s Fruit & Veg and Bolyes for allowing us have the Lotto Boxes in the shops. Kevin Leen who does all the online updating.
Children’s Officer- Joanne Long I like to thank you on all the great work you are doing as Children’s Officer and also in so many other ways during the year.
To Oonagh and her Health & Wellbeing Committee that was set up this year. It has been great to see a new dynamic committee set up in the club and important to focus in on the well being of our members and the wider community.
First aid committee led by Ann Savage, Ann Kenny, Joanne Long and John Rice and also to the staff in Kerry General Hospital. To the Coaching Committee led by Stephen O’Brien.. There is great progress being made here and long may it continue to help all our young footballers coming through.
We have a number of officers who are stepping down this year Maureen O’Shea, Noelle O’Brien, Dave Slattery and Josephine Fearns. On behalf of the club I want to say a thank you to each and every one of ye for the tremendous work ye have done over the years. This is very much appreciated by all involved in the club.
A word of Thanks to James Godley who has served his term as Ladies Chairman. Thanks James for all your help in so many ways over the past three years.
I want to thank Eamon Moriarty for all the IT work he does behind the scenes for the club.
To all other committees in the club I want to say a huge thank you for the great work ye are doing.
During my term as Chairman I got marvelous support and help from you all here today, all club members and our wider community . I can never express enough my sincere thanks to each and every one. It was great and very important t to me. I am a proud Ballymac man and it was a great honour to be Chairman of this great club for the past three years.
I wish to extend every success to Mike Sweeney as Chairman. Mike has been a great help to me always and he is seeped in the club all his life. Also to Fionnán who is returning as Secretary. Good luck to you both and to your committees for the next three years.
Finally, on behalf of the club I would like to extend our deepest Sympathy to all who lost loved ones over the past year and wish anybody that is sick in our parish at the moment a speedy recovery.
