Ballymac 0-10
Keel 1-12
This junior shield game was the first to be played at the newly revamped Ballymac Gaa field. Despite a downpour before the game the new pitch was looking fantastic. Unfortunately the result did not go the home teams way however as Keel proved to be a very strong and well organised opposition.
Ballymac started brightly and the team Captain Padraig McCarthy had the honour of scoring the first point on the new pitch from a free.Keel responded well and kicked the next four points. Another McCarthy free made the score 0-04 to 0-02 after 15 minutes. Keel then converted a penalty to increase their lead. Ballymac responded with points from Con Reynolds and McCarthy but Keel finished the stronger and had three more points to leave the half time score 0-04 to 1-07.
