Our Senior team took on John Mitchels at home on Sunday last in a fixture which doubled up as a Coiste Tra Li and St. Brendan’s Board game. Ballymac started in whirlwind fashion and led 1 – 5 to no score after 15 minutes however, John Mitchels fought back and at half time the score was Ballymac 1 – 5 John Mitchels 0 – 7. The away side started the second half stronger and took the lead with a couple of early points. A John Mitchels goal mid way through the second half increased their need further but our lads never gave up and reduced the deficit to 3 points to leave the final score Ballymac 1 – 9 John Mitchels 1 – 12. It was great to see Gerard Arthurs and William Casey back in Club colours after a number of years out of action while it was also encouraging to see minors Padraig O Connor, Christopher Leen and David Long impressing.

CORDAL/SCART 4-6 BALLYMAC 2-8
We played our first game of the season away to Cordal/Scart in the Castleisland district last Sunday morning. Both defences were on top early on and we had to wait over ten minutes for the first score a point by Cordal/Scart . This was followed almost immediatedly by a goal for our opponents. Michael Hoare burst through to goal for us and quickly added a point to level the scores. Cordal/Scart got 3 more points before the break to leave us three points behind (1-4 to1-1) at half time.
We got a great start to the second half Keelan driving through from his own half to finish to the net, easily the score of the game. The home side pointed while Daragh Reagan and Keelan pointed for us. A defensive mix up let Scart in for a goal while Daragh Reagan pointed for us. E ddie Rodgers who was having a fine game at full back had to go off injured and this caused huge problems for us with the home side getting two quick goals and a point. Keelan got four points in succession but we could not get the goal we needed. Best for us were Keelan Brosnan, Cathal Dunne, Eddie Rodgers and Michael Hoare on a day when we just came up short. Training continues next Sunday morning at 11am.
