Ballymac made the long trip down to Dromid for this vital game for the blue and gold. Dromid made a good start with 2 quick points one from a free from midfielder Thomas Curran and one from their corner forward. Ballymac settled into the game with a free from Aiden Breen and an excellent score from Gene Griffin 50 yard out near the sideline. A good passing move involving Aidan Breen, Colin McSwiney to Philip Galvin ended in a nice score for Ballymac putting them one ahead with 15mins played. Dromid then had a good ten minutes with four points scored one from a free from Thomas Curran, one from play from Kerry’s Declan O Sullivan and two from Micheal Sheehan. Aidan Breen kept Ballymac in touch with another free. Declan O Sullivan fielded a great ball near the square, turned and slotted it over the bar. Dan O Shea scored a vital point for Ballymac just before half time to end the half 0-08 to Dromid and 0-05 points to Ballymac.
Ballymac started the better team in the second half with Gene Griffin scoring from play, but the move of the match came from left corner back Brendan O Donnell who travelled well up the field receiving the ball and burying the ball in the back of the Dromid net putting the away side one in front. Further scores from Eoin Sugrue and Dan O Shea kept Ballymac in the game while scores from Declan O’ Sullivan, Donie Shine and the Dromid’s cornor forward putting Dromid in front by 3 points going into the last ten minutes of the game . Ballymac finished the stronger with points from Eoin Sugrue, Niall O Shea and Gene Griffin to draw the match. Final score Dromid 0-17 to Ballymac 1-14.
