This division 4 county league game was played at a sun drenched lispole on sat evening. Ballymac started much the better and had 6 points on the board by the17th minute through Mossie Shanahan, Paudie McCarthy (2), Eoin O Siocru (2) and Shane Reilly. Lispole then got going and scored the next 1-03 through Declan O’ Sullivan. Ballymac keeper Paudie Laide then pulled off two stunning saves to keep his team in the game. An Aiden Breen point for Ballymac left the halftime score Lispole 1-03 Ballymac 0-7. Both sides had a pointed free after the restart. From the kickout
Ballymac put a great move together which was buried to the net by Aiden Breen. Lispole responded with 3 pointed frees making the score 1-08 apiece. A grandstand finish ensued and Paudie McCarthy kicked a great point to put Ballymac ahead. Lispole responded with another pointed free from Declan O’ Sullivan and a draw looked the most likely result.

Huge credit is due to both teams for the sporting manner in which the game was played.

Faoi 16 : Central Board Rd 4 Result : Ballymac 5-11 Lispole 6-03. Played at Mounthawk School pitch on Monday evening last, Ballymac made it four wins out of four with a 5 point victory over the West Kerry side. It was certainly a goal fest on the night but it was Ballymac’s superior point taking that swayed the contest in our favour. The lads played exceptionally well, particularly in the first half with Jack Scanlon and Christy Leen taking the game to Lispole. Vincent Horan, Dylan Goggin and Stephen Bermingaham were all on the scoresheet once again. The second half saw Lispole fight back and net goals of their own but their inability to kick points from range proved their down fall. So it’s a 100 % record in the League thusfar and next week sees our final game of the League phase with an away fixture against Castlegregory on Monday April 25th. Foireann ; Sean Savage, Aaron Dunne, Jack O Shea, Dylan Goggin, Patrick O Connor, Sean Doyle, Scott O Brien, Mossie Leen, Chris Leen, Vincent Horan, Stephen Bermingham, Jack Scanlon, Jonathan Brick, Cian Lonergan, Neil O Sullivan, Morgan Quirke.
Faoi 14 : County League Rd 3 Templenoe/Tuosist 3-08 Ballymac 3-12. Our U-14s made the long trip south to Templenoe to take on the combination side in the County League and despite an under par performance, garnered two precious points in our quest for a semi final berth. Having led by 8 points to 1 at half time, Ballymac allowed T/T to come storming back into the game with 3 quick goals and indeed the Blue ‘n Gold relinquished the lead for a time in the second half. Up step the O Shea brothers, Jerdie and Jack to net 3 goals between them to restore Ballymac’s lead and we eventually held on for victory by 4 points. It wasn’t the best of displays by our lads, kicking 12 wides in the first half alone which could have proven costly in the end. Eoin Lyons at full-back was immense and he repelled attack after attack. Gary Horan was sound in goals and Aaron Dunne held his own at mid-field. Paddy O Donnell when introduced, played well at corner forward and set up colleagues for vital scores nearing the end. Our next game is this Wednesday April 20th with an away game against Beaufort.
Faoi 12 : Our opening games in this years county League took place on Sunday evening last in Keel. With two games running concurrently it was a joy to see so many children playing football and judging from the reaction from all it seems at this very early stage of the season to be a success. Emphasis is now placed on participation and game-time and this was certainly evident on Sunday evening last. Those to impress on the night were Rachel Godley, Cathal Dunne, Alusin Jah, James Carmody and Dylan Dunne Moriarty. Our “Blue” team were victorious over Keel while our “Gold” team were unfortunate to go down by 2 points to the same opposition. Great numbers from the club were present and there was certainly a great atmosphere at the games. As next Sunday is Easter Sunday we have no games but training will continue at the usual times. Well done to everybody last Sunday evening.
Faoi 6/8/10 : Another most entertaining and enjoyable morning was had by all in the academy with huge numbers attending once again. It is indeed great to see the masses congregate at the Juvenile field to witness the progress and strides being made by all juveniles and no doubt that some may yet wear the Green and Gold of the County later on in their careers. Players such as Adam Joy, Mossie Brennan, Maurice O Connell, Andy Rogers and Michael Prendergast are all endeavouring to do their best at U-8 level. In the U-10s, those to impress at an early stage include Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Jonathan Lowe, Tomás and Diarmuid Lynch and Cian Godley. The Ladies squad, not to be outdone are also showing signs of improvement including Niamh Rahilly, Heather Jones, Róisín Long, Cora Savage and Shonagh Griffin. The U-6s can also be proud of their effort so far with Sean Rice, Cormac Costello, Cian McCarthy, Alex Walsh and Tommy Palmer exhibiting their newly acquired footballing talents to the gallery on Sunday mornings. Many thanks to all the mentors and parents who help out so much each weekend in whatever capacity. Your assistance and contribution does not go un-noticed. Go raibh maith agaibh uilig go léir !
No Training : As next Sunday April 24th is Easter Sunday we will be taking a well earned break from training and we will then begin again on Sunday May 1st in the Juvenile pitch at 11 am sharp. Keep practising those skills at home. Mar a théann an sean-fhocal “Déanann cleachtadh máistreacht” See ye all again on Sunday May 1st.
Congrats and Well Done ! Club mentors Martin Lowe and Roland Rogers participated in the Tralee Tri Club Duathlon in Banna on Saturday last April 9th and both finished in the Top 20 which was a commendable feat for both competitors. Martin will also participate in the Waterville Triathlon which is due to take place at the end of the month so we wish him the best of luck !
