BALLYMAC 2-16
DROMIN PEARSES 2-10
Ballymac gained two valuable county league points at home to Dromid on Sunday afternoon. Ballymac started the better and had the ball in the net in the first minute through Genie Griffin after a defense splitting pass from Con Reynolds. Dromid responded very well and had three points from Dylan O Donoghue, Chris Foley and Thomas Curran. The home side then took control of the game and a flurry of points from Aiden Breen (3), Dermot Leen, Brendan O Donnell and Daniel O Shea left the score 1-06 to 0-03 after 20 mins. Next came the score of the game when Cian Counihan half vollied the ball to the Dromid net.
Dromid had the better start to the second half when the impressive Thomas Curran goaled after only 2 mins. Further points were exchanged and then Curran goaled again and added two points to leave only one point between the teams. Ballymac to their great credit dug deep and found an extra gear. Points from Breen, Padraig McCarthy, Dan O Shea and two from sub Shane Reilly restored the home sides six point lead, which they held to the finish. Great credit must go to both teams for the sporting manner in which they played the game and as a result made it a very enjoyable spectacle for all in attendance.
