U14 GIRLS COUNTY LEAGUE FINAL
Laune Rangers B 5-07
Ballymac 4-06
The division 4 league final was played Sun evening last at Farranfour and it turned out to be a cracker of a game . The Ballymac girls started the game really well and we dominated possession for the first 20mins , however scores were hard to come by due to a combination of poor shooting and good defense from Laune Rangers scores were level at a point a piece . Laune Rangers came more into it then and they scored a good goal to lead , 2 points from Ashling O Connell pushed us back in front but a few minutes before the half time whistle we conceded 2 goals . Half time score 3-1 to 3 pts
The second half saw Caoimhe Carroll and Cora Savage replace Eve Creedon and Lisa Curran and a few positional switches saw us again make a great start and a goal from Aine Rice and a point from Ashling ensured we were back in it . We traded points and we brought the lead back to 3 points , Laune Rangers struck for another goal and tacked on a point for good measure saw them lead by 2 goals and a point with 12 mins left . However the Ballymac girls showed great heart and determination to come back strongly , Cora Savage got a goal and Mary Healy got in for another great goal . A goal for Laune Rangers rocked us again but we went back up the field from the kickout and Mary Healy struck again for goal no 4 for Ballymac , Another point for Ashling intersected 2 for Laune Rangers . Ballymac had 2 goal chances again but failed to convert , final whistle blew as our girls attacked once more leaving us with a 4 pt defeat .
To say the girls were magnificent on the night wouldn’t do them justice . Considering Laune Rangers played 6 players who contested the Div 1 semi -final our girls went toe to toe with them and at times one would think that some of our players had played div 1 .
It was a privilege to see them show heart, determination and skill on the night and they all performed to the max of their ability . They did themselves , their parents and the Ballymac club proud on the night and right through the competition . Big thanks to all who supported the team on the night .
All played well on the night but special mention to Claire Kenny , Micheala and Tara Murphy , Niamh Rahilly , mid fielders Leah O Neill and Rose Ann O Shea , Aine Rice ,Ashling O Connell and 2nd half Mary Healy & Rachel Godley . Subs Caoimhe and Cora really made a big impact on the game too .
Team : Robin White , Eve Creedon , Claire Kenny , Micheala Murphy , Niamh Rahilly , Tara Murphy , Maeve O Sullivan , Leah O Neill , Rose Ann O Shea , Aine Rice , Rachel Godley , Ashling O Connell , Lisa Curran , Mary Healy , Therese Keane.
Subs : Caoimhe Carroll for Eve Creedon , Cora Savage for Lisa Curran , Lisa Curran for Maeve O Sullivan and Cait Rice
Feile U14 – Hurling
Congratulations to U14 team Member Brian Lonergan who represented Kerry in this years All Ireland Féile Hurling skills competition held in Co. Armagh last weekend. Brian did his family, his hurling club Parnells and Ballymac very proud indeed by finishing in a remarkable 4th overall, with counties of the hurling standard of Limerick, Waterford and Kilkenny in the top 3 it is truly a great achievement for Brian to finish on par with these great hurling counties and only for narrowly missing 3 frees he would have been in the top two. Along with finishing in 4th position Brian also brought home The Christy Ring Trophy for his fantastic efforts and high level of skills shown on the day. This trophy was for the highest ranked player from a Christy Ring Cup County. Well done Brian!
