Ballymacelligott 2-12
Castlegregory 1-11
This Division 3 Round 1 County League game was played at a sunny but very breezy Ballymacelligott on Saturday evening. Newly promoted Ballymac took to the field under new manager Maurice Flynn. Castlegregory played with the strong wind in the first half and opened brightly scoring the first four points, all from Shane Hennessy, three of which were frees. Ballymac replied with a point from Dermot Leen. The away team continued to dominate and tagged on another 1-04 from Alan Fitzgerald by the 25 minute. Ballymac finished the half with a Padraig McCarthy pointed free and a vital goal from Eoin O’ Siochru. Half Time Score: Ballymacelligott 1-02 Castlegregory 1-08. Ballymac began the second half in determined fashion and had four points on the board by the 7th minute. Shane Reilly was then introduced and that was to prove a big turning point as he put over a point and then finished a great move to the net in the 20th minute. It was all the home team at that stage and further points from McCarthy (2), Aiden Breen and O’ Siochru put them in command. Castlegregory could only manage 3 pointed frees from Alan Fitzgerald in reply.
All in all an excellent game of football played in great sporting fashion by both teams on a fantastic pitch. Full Time Score Ballymacelligott 2-12 Castlegregory 1-11
