Beale 1-08, Ballymac 2-13
Ballymac began their Division 4 County League campaign with a well deserved 8 point win at a sun drenched Ballybunion on Sunday last. New Captain Padraig McCarthy proudly led his team into battle for the first time. Ballymac began brightly with a pointed free from Eoin O Siocru but Beale responded with a free of their own. The away team who were now playing some fine free flowing football cut loose and scored 1-05 without reply through Paudie Mac 1-01, O Siocru 0-1 and Aiden Breen 0-2. Beale then had a man sent off for a bad tackle on Padraig McCarthy. Ballymac added two points from Cathal Delacy and TJ Casey before Beale hit back with 1-01 to leave the Half time score Beale 1-03 Ballymac 1-08.
Ballymac were quickly into their stride in the second half with Colm McSwiney goaling from the throw in. Two more points from frees were added before Beale to their credit fought back with 0-4 in a row. Ballymac then sealed the game with three further points. Final Score: Beale 1-08 Ballymac 2-13

MINORS
St. Marys 1-16 nBallymac/Churchill 1-10
Ballymac/Churchill travelled to this game without some of their key players due to injuries. A win would guarantee a home venue for the semi-final, but this was not to be. The first half was a close affair with the home side leading by two points at half time. St Marys Renard needed a win to secure a semi-final place and they piled on the pressure in the second half. At the final whistle the home side won on a score of St Marys Renard 1-16 Ballymac/Churchill 1-10
TEAM:E Reidy, S Fitzgerald, D Leen, P Leen, D Goggin, K Reidy, JJ Prior, JKeane, D McGarry, K Burrows, K Fitzgerald, Mleen, B McCarthy, JScanlon, E Keane. Sub: D Locke
Ballymac/Churchill are now through to the semi-final. We are awaiting the result of back games to find out our opponents and venue.

Castleisland District Final Result ; Ballymac 4-13 Currow 5-11. Incredibly having led by 15 points at one stage, our lads relinquished our grasp on the trophy to a very spirited and committed Currow side. We just could not stop the Currow onslaught in the final 20 minutes with wave after wave of attack yielding score after score. Ballymac put in a sterling first half amassing 2-10 with goals from Christy Leen and Maurice Leen and led by 9 at the short whistle. But, inexplicably the wheels came off the bandwagon in the second half and somehow we let our seemingly unassailable lead slip. Stephen Bermingham netted a brace at the start of the second period and it just seemed that the rout would continue. However, to their credit Currow began to take the game to Ballymac and started to run at our defence which paid dividends for them. We could not stop their momentum and incredibly Currow too the lead a minute into injury time.
But their was still time for Ballymac to make one final attack but Stephen cracked a tremendous effort off the crossbar. So the spoils to Currow on this occasion and we applaud them for their spirited fightback. Its back to the drawing board now for our lads with the commencement of the Central League this week.
Foireann : Sean Savage, Patrick O Connor, Jack O Shea, Sean Doyle, Scott O Brien, Dylan Goggin, Danny Peirce, Mossie Leen, Vincent Horan, Jonathan Brick, Cian Lonergan, Jack Scanlon, Christopher Leen, Stephen Bermingham, Neil O Sullivan, Eoin Lyons, Christopher Rogers, Aaron Dunne, Morgan Quirke, Graham Breen.
Go n-éirí go geal leo ! With the juvenile season just about to get into full swing we would like to wish all teams, mentors, players, parents, referees and supporters the very best of luck for the coming year. Lets hope that it is a fulfilled and fruitful season for all
concerned. Beir bua !!!

The Kerry U16’s were away to Carlow last Sunday in Round 4 of the Championships. Carlow started the better, and were 4 points to no score after ten minutes. Kerry’s Patrice Diggin from placed ball closed the gap to 2 points. Again Carlow showed their experience and their back line held out from some great pressure from Kerry. Half time Carlow 0-6 Kerry 0-2. The Kerry girls started the second half
much brighter and began to gain more posession but converting this to scores proved difficult. Carlow added 1-1 in this half with it just not being Kerry’s day and it finished on a score line of Carlow 1-7 Kerry 0-2. Its worth noting Carlow won this grade last year, and it begs the question why they didnt move up a grade. Round 5 is away to Kildare next Saturday in the last of the rounds and we wish the team and management a good finish to this campaign.
