Ballymacelligott 2-13
Churchill 0-06
This Castleisland Mart Sponsored Junior Football Championship Round 1 game was played in Ballymac on Saturday evening in front of a very small attendance. The home side were quickly into their stride and were 3 points ahead by the 10th minute through two Padraig McCarthy frees and midfielder Shane Dowling. Further points from McCarthy, Colin McSwiney and Cathal DeLacy made the halftime score 0-06 to 0-01, the Churchill score coming from Ciaran Crowley. The second half began in similar fashion with Ballymac playing with power and pace. The score of the game came when the excellent Shane Dowling finished to the net after some mighty fielding by Aiden Breen and a defence splitting run from Dermot Leen. Churchill briefly rallied with four points from Crowley and Benny Dillion but the home side were able to step it up a gear when needed and a goal from Genie Griffin ended the game as a contest. Ballymac turned on the style from there on in and finished with six more unanswered points, four of which came from McCarthy. Final Score: Ballymacelligott 2-13 Churchill 0-06
