Our Senior Team are due to play Austin Stacks in the semi final of the Coiste Tra Li Championship on Sunday next in Ballymac at 2.00pm.
WEDDING BELLS
Congratulations to club members Joanne Riordan and John O Connor on their wedding on Saturday last. Joanne is the current Treasurer of the Club and has been involved in many events run by the Club in the past number of years while John has given many years of service to the Club as a player and is currently a Senior Team selector. All the Club wish them health and happiness in their future together.
SCOR
The Scor na Nog county final was held on Sunday in Glenbeigh. Ballymac had finalists in three sections, Rince foirne (Claire Kenny, Laura Daly, Heather Jones, Therese Keane, Daragh Lynch, Adam Kelly), Scealaiocht (Laura Daly) and Bailead Ghrupa (Heather Jones, Laura Daly, Therese Keane, Claire Kenny). Unfortunately we had no winners on the night but the ballad group came a fantastic 2nd place. Well done to everyone who competed and all at the club are very proud of their achievements. A special mention must also go to Josephine Fearns for her efforts in getting the groups ready for the finals.
ARCHBIOSHOP DERMOT CLIFFORD
The Club extends its best wishes to Archbishop on his retirement from his position as Archbishop of Cashel & Emly and Patron of the GAA. Since Dr. Clifford took up this post over 25 years ago, it has been a source of great pride to the Club that a native of the Parish should hold such an exalted position. It was fitting that one of his last duties before he relinquished his role was to present the Tom Markham Cup to the winning Kerry Captain in this years All Ireland Minor Final.
MERCHANDISE
With the Christmas season just around the corner, a Ballymac GAA voucher would make an ideal Christmas present. Anybody wishing to purchase a voucher can do so by contacting Joanne Long at 0876744334.
FAOI 6 REVIEW
Our under 6 boys had a great year with all learning great ball skills in training on Sunday mornings with coaches Robert Harris, Ted McCarthy, Mossie Brosnan and Paddy O Briain. These skills were well displayed in all our games with the boys playing John Mitchels, Austin Stacks, St Pats, Na Gaeil, Fossa and Churchill.
FAOI 8 REVIEW
The under 8s had a very active year from beginning to end. They started off the year training every Sunday morning with numbers ranging between 25 and 35.Their first game of the year was a trip to Ardfert with Ardfert visiting Ballymac in return. They also travelled to Keel, Fossa, Castleisland and Na Gaeil to take part in mini blitzes . We also hosted the Castleisland District Blitz in Ballymac with all the local teams in attendance. They took part in the Annual John Mitchels Blitz in Tralee in July, beating Beale, Desmonds, Beaufort and Austin Stacks only losing to Keel in the group stages to reach the final against Milltown/ Castlemaine, only to narrowly lose after a great performance by the boys. Our last outing of the year was the Annual Siobhan Cotter Blitz in Churchill in October where the boys performed excellently to contribute to the club winning the blitz for the second year running. A special word of thanks to all the parents for their time and dedication towards the boys throughout the year. Also, thanks to the club’s which hosted us and travelled to us throughout the season ,and to Jer Lynch for all his coordinating of games. Finally thanks to the coaches David Long, Pa White, Niall Gilroy, Philip Turner and Kieran Savage for all their time and effort. Roll on 2015!!
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Austin Stacks, Ardfert and Desmonds Senior Ladies team on their victories over the weekend and best wishes to Brosna in their Munster Junior Final against Glin on this coming weekend.
