Ballymac seniors got their Co League campaign off to a winning start with a good victory over Keel in Ballymac on Sunday last. Keel opened the scoring from a free but a Padraig McCarthy goal after good approach work by Aidan Breen saw Ballymac take the lead. The home side dominated the rest of the half and points from Daniel O Shea, Aidan Breen, Mossie Shanahan and Paudie McCarthy (2) and a goal on the stroke of half time by Luke Sweeney saw Ballymac go in at the break leading on a score Ballymac 2 – 5 Keel 0 – 3. Keel had early second half points and midway through the half had reduced the deficit to 6 points. Try as they might Keel could not find a way past the resolute Ballymac defence for a goal which could have changed the game and late points from Gene Griffin, Padraig McCarthy and Luke Sweeney saw us run out deserving winners by 7 points. Our next game in the Co League is away to Ardfert on the weekend of April 12th.
