Central Board Rd 1 Result: Ballymac 4-08 Keel 1-12. Our U-16s responded well to our District Final defeat with a hard-fought win over Keel on Monday night last. Despite missing five regulars on the night, those present did themselves proud with a competent display of open football. We took the game to Keel from the outset and with goals from Stephen Bermingham, Jack Scanlon, Scott O Brien and a penalty from Mossie Leen, Ballymac never surrendered the lead despite Keels spirited fight back in the second half. Eoin Lyons was a colossus in the back-line with Jack O Shea sweeping very effectively.
In attack, Vincent Horan got through an amount of ball and set attack after attack in motion. Ballymac, tiring noticeably near the end due to two games in consecutive days, allowed Keel to claw some of the lead back but Ballymac held out for a well deserved victory in the end. Round 2 sees the lads face St. Pats in Blennerville with a report on this game in next weeks notes.

County League Rd 1 : Mitchels 5-04 Ballymac 4-08. The foundation of this victory for the Blue n Gold was laid in the opening quarter with goals from Gerdie O Shea, Chris Leen and Cillian Brosnan with Ballymac racing into a nine point lead by half time. Mitchels responded well on the resumption with goals of their own but Ballymac with Jack O Shea in imperious form steadied the ship and saw out the game with the minimum to spare. A positive start to the League and mentors Gene O Keeffe, David Long and Seamus Quirke were well pleased with the performance. Rd 2 of the County League continues this week with an away fixture to Firies in Farranfore. Report in next weeks notes.
FAOI 12
Our County League campaign commences on Sunday April 17th with away fixtures to Keel. Both our “Blue” and “Gold” teams will be in action on the night so lets hope for a fruitful beginning for all our players involved. Beir bua !! A challenge match against John Mitchels was scheduled for last Tuesday evening. Report next week.
BALLYMAC ACADEMY
Last Sunday April 3rd saw the first training session of the new season for our u-6, u-8 and u-10s. It was a fine day despite the early morning rain, which did not curb the youngsters enthusiasm. A phenomenal turnout for our first gathering with over 100 kids, including 35 girls in attendance which is quite staggering for a rural club. Great work was done over the course of the hour or so and even though the kids returned muddied to their parents they all seemed to have enjoyed the experience. Great credit must go to all our mentors who give of their time voluntarily and who show pride and passion in their work. Jer Lynch with the assistance of Denis and Mossie Leen, Robert Dowd and David Long Jr. took charge of the U-10s and Liam Joy, Martin Lowe, Fintan Kelly, Eddie O Connell and Don Brosnan helping with the U-6s and U8s. Kieran Savage, Gene O Keeffe, Deirdre O Keeffe and Bridget Leen took charge of the girls. The club is indebted to these volunteers and we are all grateful to ye for the help on each Sunday morning. See ye all again next Sunday April 10th from 11 am to 12 15. Thanks also to Willie Costello and Johnny Leen for taking registration on the morning and to Katie and Helen with the merchandising sales. A mile buíochas to Joanne, David and Tom Long for organising the shop last Sunday also.
REGISTRATION
We ask that all parents ensure that their children are registered with the club as the club is bound by insurance conditions. The cost of Juvenile registration is €25 and €10 for each subsequent child of the same family. Children will only be allowed to train when the registration fee is paid. This can be done on Sunday mornings prior to training at 11 am.
PARKING
Due to the wet conditions of the Juvenile field at present cars will not be allowed to enter the field to be parked. We ask that all parents co-operate with the steward when parking on the road and also to be considerate of all other road users in the immediate vicinity. Once conditions in the field dry out, we will then allow cars onto the field. Míle Buíochas !
