RESULTS:
County League Round 9
Fossa 1-06 Ballymac 0-16
This round 9 county league game was played at a sunny Fossa on Saturday evening.
Fossa started really well and were 1-03 to 0-01 ahead after 10 minutes. Hard to believe but that would be Fossa’s last score until 20 minutes in to the second half. Ballymac then settled into the game and played some free flowing football for the rest of the first half and had points from Padraig McCarthy (2), Aiden Breen (2), Eoin O Siocru (2), Shane Reilly (2) and one from midfielder Shane Dowling to make the half time score, Fossa 1-03 Ballymac 0-09
The second half began with Ballymac adding 4 more points through Eoin O Siocru (2) and the impressive wing back Cian Counihan with a brace to end the game as a contest. Fossa replied with 3 pointed frees but the away team, with the incentive of promotion to division 3 in front of them pushed on again and had the last 3 points of the game from Aiden Breen (2) and sub Genie Griffin. A very solid team performance from Ballymacelligott who now head the league table and their destiny is very much in their own hands.
Team: P. Laide, M. Galvin, TJ Casey, J O’ Connor, C. Counihan, K O’ Shea, B. O’ Donnell, D. Casey, S. Dowling, S. Reilly, A. Breen, P. McCarthy, C. McSwiney, D. Leen, E O’ Siocru
Subs Used: G. O’ Keeffe, G. Griffin, L. Sweeney

County League Div. 4 Final:
Ballymac 1-08 Annascaul 1-06.
Pride of place this week must certainly belong to our U-16s having secured the County League title last Wednesday with a hard fought and narrow victory over Annascaul at Austin Stacks Park. This was the fourth meeting of the two sides this year, having already faced each other twice in the Central Region League. In Rd 2 of the County League earlier on this summer, Ballymac had a one point win over the West Kerry side so there was little to separate the sides all throughout the season. In truth, this was a dour, tense and tight affair with both full-back lines on top throughout with Seán Doyle having the proverbial blinder at full-back for Ballymac. Scores were hard to come by and when they did come were hard earned. Chris Leen, Ger Browne and Moss Leen all pointing in the first half with the score 3 points each at the short whistle.
