Coiste na nÓg News:
U16 Boys
Our U 16s played Ardfert in Round 3 of the Tralee District league in Ballymac on Thursday last . Our Boys got off to a wonderful start and we were 3 points to the good after 10 mins . Ardfert responded with 2 points , but our boys were soon in control when 2 Sean Horan Goals put us in a great position with 7 mins left in the half . An excellent point from James Kenny put us further ahead and it was looking good at the interval with Ballymac leading 2 04 to 3 points .
Ardfert came out in typical Ardfert fashion for the second half and scored 5 points on the trot to leave 2 points between the sides . A beautiful point from Denis Brosnan settled us again , but when Adam Kelly struck for Goal shortly after , it was looking good once more . However Ardfert never gave up and scored a goal of their own to narrow the gap to 3 points again . However a further point from Adam joy gave us a 4 point lead on the final score of Ballymac 3 07 Ardfert 1 09 . Adam Kelly was outstanding in defence as was Denis Brosnan & Daragh Sweeney. Cathal Culloty & Adam joy worked hard in midfield, Donal Daly maurice o connell Gary lynch & james Kenny played well up front . Mossie Brennan was in outstanding form when introduced. Thanks to Ardfert for a fine sporting Game & thanks to all parents for their support on the night .
Our u 16s played Austin Stacks in Caherslee in the Division one final on Sunday . Ballymac were first off the mark with a point from Donal Daly from a free after a foul on Maurice O’ Connell . Austin Stacks replied with 4 points on the trot and settled Quickly after the early set Back . However Ballymac replied with two more points from frees by Donal Daly, to put a point between the sides . A fine individual effort from Austin Stacks before half time lead to a goal and this put 4 points between the sides . Another goal before half time for Austin Stacks left the half time score 2 05 to 0 04 to Austin Stacks.
In the second half with the wind Stacks added further scores to build on their lead , and when they added a third goal it seemed as if the contest was over . A consolation goal from Adam Walker and further points from Adam Joy closed the gap . But from here on Austin Stacks added further scores to run out comfortable winners and fully deserving of their win .
All Ballymac players tried their best and can be proud of their performance and they have done the club proud all year . Winning the Castleisland District League A Final was the highlight of the year . To the Coaches Stephen O’Brien Liam Sweeney and Eddie O’ Connell , we say thank you for all your effort time and hard work .Thanks to Mike Broderick & Declan O’Connell also for helping out during the year .
