Blue Team
Our Blue team played Ardfert last Monday the 23rd of May in the second round of the division one county league. Ballymac got off to a great start, with Maurice O’ Connell scoring 1- 04 after ten mins. Further points from Donal Daly and Andy Rodgers had us in a commanding position. Even though Ardfert hit 3 points on the trot, including 2 beautifully struck 45’s they never seemed to be able to close the gap on us. James Kenny added another goal and further points from Gary Lynch and Donal Daly sent us in at half time leading 2-11 to 0-03.
We continued the pressure in the second half with Eoin Creedon playing brilliantly from the back, helped by the ever improving Jamie Sugrue and Luke O’ Connell. Donal Daly was thriving at midfield, with Mark O Connor was also trying very hard, while subs Adam Wharton, Jared O’ Brien and Oisin Shanahan got valuable game time, and really got into the game from the word go. We added another 1-05 in the second half compared to Ardfert’s 1- 04 to run out comprehensive winners on a score line of 3-16 to 1-08. Thanks to all parents for their support and well done to the team for an accomplished performance. We eventually ran out 3-16 to 1-08 winners.
Our blue team travelled to Fossa to take on the home side in round 3 of the division 1 county league. Fossa took the lead in the first minute and continued to impress in the first fifteen minutes , our boys were finding it difficult to get to the pace of the game. However after a Gary Lynch goal against the run of play , we seemed to up our game , two further points from Maurice O Connell seem to settle us as we headed for the interval , leading 1 04 to 0 02 pts. In the second half we started brightly , and took the game to Fossa. Our defence were well on top , Jamie Sugrue Luke O Connell Mossie Brennan and Eoin Creedon were giving an exhibition on defending. When James Kenny had the ball in the net, half way through the second half we sensed victory. Two beautifully struck frees by Donal Daly had us well in command , but score of the night went to Luke O Connell , who travelled the length of the pitch , having taken two or three passes , and scored a massive point. Fossa tried hard to rescue the game ,but two super saves by Kieran Slattery finally put paid to Fossa s chances. They did score a consolation goal in injury time , but we ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of Ballymac 2 10 Fossa 1 05. Thanks to all the parents for their support , well done to the team on a fine result.
