Ballymac u16’s travelled to Ardfert on Monday night to take on their very physical under 16 team. From the outset Ardfert were in control. In the first minute a long ball from the hosts into the Ballymac square was punched to the Ballymac net by Daragh Courteney. Ballymac were quick to respond with a goal from corner forward Daire Keane in the second minute. This was followed by two more points from David Rogers and Cillian Gallagher. Nathan Driscoll and Cillian Gallagher exchanged points. Halfway through the first half, Ardfert’s ace forward, Gavin Dooley broke through the Ballymac defence to score their second goal. Thomas Healy increased their lead with a point form play. Ballymac registered three more scores before half time with a pointed free from Daire Keane and two points from play from Cillian Gallagher. Ardfert had three more scores to leave the score at half time Ardfert 2.6 to Ballymac 1.6. On the restart Daire Keane and Thomas Healy exchanged points. Ten minutes into the second half Barry Lyons was pulled down in the Ardfert square and Josh O Keeffe made no mistake with the penalty. The sides were level for only one minute when Ardfert edged in front again with a point from Gavin Dooley. The game changed completely in the next five minutes when Ardfert scored two goals and a point. Both sides managed one more point each before the final whistle to leave the final score at Ardfert 4.9 to Ballymac 2.8. Ballymac tried very hard throughout this game but found Ardfert to be very physical and fit.

County League Div 2A Castlegregory 4-13 Ballymac 1-8 Played in very testing conditions for football our hosts managed the elements better than our boys. We had the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and played some nice football. We put over a number of points from Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Darragh Broderick, Jonathan Lowe,
Dara Leen and Sean Polman. A goal by Darragh Broderick was well taken. However our hosts were keeping the scoreboard ticking over also and one knew the change at half time would cost us as we didn’t register enough scores ourselves. HT 2-3 to 1-7 Ballymac ahead by 1 That was as good as it got as Castlegregory with the wind at their backs took full advantage. They went ahead after two goals in quick succession. Our boys didn’t give up and our defence did some great work to keep us in the game. Our sole score in the second half was a point taken by Aidan. Conditions worsened as the half went on and favoured Castle even more. They added some long range points to run out comfortable winners.
FT 4-13 to 1-8
