Our U-8s under the stewardship of Liam Joy, Eddie O Connell, Martin Lowe and Don Brosnan, had a most enjoyable Go-Games blitz in Currow on Monday evening last. This is an annual blitz for the older U-8s and we had two different teams in action on the night with both performing very well. We played two teams from Currow and one from Scartaglin and everybody did themselves very proud. Our footballing skills are improving all the while with outstanding displays by all concerned. Thankfully the weather remained dry for the evening despite the cold conditions. The Go-games blitz continues in Currow on Mon May23rd and on Mon May 30th. The blitz which was originally scheduled for Mon May 16th has been deferred. We thank all mentors, parents and followers for their continued support at these blitzes. County League Semi-final Result : Ballymac 2-14 John Mitchels 1-08 : An outstanding display of football by our lads, particularly in the first half resulted in a deserved win and progression to the County final. Played at Na Gaeil pitch on Wednesday evening last, Ballymac served up one of their most impressive displays this season with some scintillating football at times and those present witnessed a flowing game of football from start to finish. Ballymac began in explosive fashion with a string of points from Chris Leen, Jack O Shea, Micheál Reidy and Chris Rogers from centre back put Ballymac firmly in the driving seat. Mitchels at times had no answer to Ballymacs style of direct first time foot passing as early footpasses were delivered into our forward line time and time again. Assisted by the wind, Ballymac amassed 10 points from play in the opening half as Jerdie O Shea and Morgan Quirke added on points as Mitchels struggled to live with Ballymac. But great credit to the Green and Gold of Boherbue, a vast improvement from them in the second half saw them take the game to Ballymac and added the first three points after the restart. However, a long range shot from Cillian Brosnan deceived the Mitchels keeper which restored our seven point lead. Mitchels replied with a goal of their own only for Chris Leen to seal the victory with a well taken goal 10 minutes from time. Aaron Dunne and Tomas O Connor excelled on the night as did Micheal Reidy, Robert Dowd and Jerdie O Shea. Ballymac saw out the game with a display of assured football and now progress to meet Milltown/Castlemaine in the final this week. Well done to all involved and go n-éirí go geal libh go léir sa Chraobh-chluiche. Foireann : Gary Horan, Max O Brien, Eoin Lyons, Robert Dowd, David Long, Chris Rogers, Tomás O Connor, Aaron Dunne, Jack O Shea, Morgan Quirke, Chris Leen, Micheál Reidy, Jerdie O Shea, Joseph Cassidy, Cillian Brosnan, Garry Sheehy, Brian O Connor, Paddy O Donnell, Daniel Goggin, Eddie Rogers.

County League Rd 4 Results: Both our U-12s were unfortunate to go under to two strong Fossa sides on Sunday evening last. Played in stormy and wet conditions in Fossa, Ballymac failed to live up to the high standards they have set themselves thusfar with a titanic struggle with our friends from Fossa. Disappointment was etched on the faces of our lads and lasses at the final whistle but they can all still hold their head up high as they played with passion and dignity. With three games remaining in the County League ( at home to both Finuge and Asdee and away to Moyvane ) we can still bring much to the table and we aspire to progress and improve. Great credit to our mentors, Fiona Goggin, Aidan Dunne, Tony Selles and Liam Nolan for bringing both teams this far and the future augurs well for the remainder of the season. Best on the night were Brian Lonergan, new recruit Eoin O Malley and Keelan Brosnan. Keep in contact with yout team mentors for news on training and fixtures.
Ballymac Academy
Despite the atrocious conditions on Sunday morning last, huge numbers showed up for our training session once again. Undeterred by the howling winds and incessant rain, everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Eddie, Jer and Mossie certainly have the U-10s in great shape and they are all progressing well with Ciarán Brosnan, Darragh Brosnan, Darragh Leen and Tomas Lynch all showing the way. Kieran, Anthony, Dónal and Veronica are all giving good advice and instruction to the girls who have embraced football with consummate ease and the likes of Eve Creedon, Emily O Donoghue, Shonagh Griffin and Niamh Rahilly are certainly up for the task. At U-8s they are all put through their paces by Liam Joy, Eddie O Connell, Don Brosnan, Fintan Kelly, Theresa Gilroy and Ger Collins with Cormac Costello, Adam Sheehy, Adam Kelly and Niall Collins making great strides and progress. Remember, keep practising those football skills at home and see ye all again this coming Sunday morning at 11 am sharp.

We hope, and I stress the word hope to be able to be in a position to bring the U-12s and U-10s to Killarney on Sunday May 22nd to see Kerry take on Tipperary in the Munster Football Quarter Final. With information sketchy at the time of writing, we will endeavour to fulfil this hope and further concrete information will be issue to the U-12s and U-10s during the week. Places will be limited so if you are interested in travelling with the group to Killarney please let your team mentor know asap. Míle Buíochas !
