ACADEMY: Academy returned in full force on Sunday morning. It was fantastic to welcome back players, mentors and trainers from last year and we extend a warm welcome to our new footballers, mentors and trainers. Clearly there was a great deal of practice taking place around Ballymac despite the poor weather conditions during the winter months. Sam Boyle, Michael Quirke, Eoghan Joy and Paddy Lucid proved this on Sunday for the U6 boys. The U8 boys were also eager to show their football prowess with all the boys making an impressive return to the pitch. There was a great turnout in the U8 category with 28 boys training on Sunday morning, they showed great attitude and skill with Conor Daly, Shane Gilroy, Jamie Burke,Alex Riordan, Lee Wharton and Sam Slattery impressing on the day. For the U10 boys, Cody O’Shea and Tommy Palmer have made the transition from U8 with ease and showed excellent skills. James Kenny and Gary Lynch who were U10s last year have obviously worked on their skills over the last few months and will be great role models to our new U10 boys. Shona Griffin, Roisin Raggett and Kerry Hennessy also made a very impressive return to the U10 girls. Fantastic work all round. Academy will continue next Sunday at 11am.
