A panel of 13 players made the short trip to our neighbours in Firies to take part in their annual blitz. We were grouped with Crokes, Glenflesk and Listry. Our morning began with a game against Listry , our boys soon got into their stride and picked off some lovely points. Dylan Dunne Moriarty and Dara Broderick supplied some great ball into our forwards where Johnathon Lowe and Darragh Leen were to the fore. A solid defensive display by Liam and Aidan o Brien made sure Listry were not allowed back into the game and we ran out worthy winners. Our second game pitched us against a very strong Crokes team from Killarney, the boys tried very hard in this game but in truth were out fought by a well drilled Crokes side, indeed it must be said that 8 of our starting 11 will be underage again next year so this bodes well for the future. Despite giving Crokes the advantage on age we went down with only 3 points between the sides. Crokes it must be said went on to win the tournament.Third up was Glenflesk, with former Kerry star as a mentor you knew this side were going to be well motivated , this was a winner take all tie with the victor going to the semi final and the loser finished for the day , however our boys got stuck in right from the start and goals from Eoin Kenny and Johnathan Lowe put us on our way to victory , Kieran Coggin at midfield Ciaran Brosnan and Darragh Broderick in defence put in great work . On their introduction Diarmuid Lynch and Kyle O Connor did trojan work , Some great kickouts by Eoin Culloty who was consistent all day in goals ensured our lads were always on the charge. Semi Final V Churchill, after a lunch provided by our Firies hosts we returned to the field of play with a place in the final at stake. Quite a breeze had built up since our earlier games and this proved costly to us as despite some huge possession our boys could not find the target. Cian Godley and Darragh Broderick attempts being taken wide by the breeze . There was only two points in it at the short whistle Churchill ahead. In The second half our boys were put under huge pressure and the concession of early goals meant we were always fighting an up hill battle to get back in the game, we bowed out of the tournament at this stage but our boys can be very proud of the effort and commitment they showed throughout well done to all. Bualadh Bos !

Our u10s travelled to sunny Ardfert on Thursday evening last for a challenge game. The game was played in beautiful conditions and our boys were cheered on by a lot of parents who took advantage of the glorious weather. The boys started slowly and were put under early pressure by a strong ardfert midfield. some stout defending by Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Aidan O Brien, Ciaran Brosnan, Darragh Leen kept us in touch in the first half with any breaks made by Cian Godley and Darragh Broderick from midfield keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Upfront Kyle O Connor, Bryan Godley, Padraig O Sullivan and Cathal Culloty were all trying very hard against a tough Ardfert defence. In the second half we made a number of positional changes Dylan Dunne Moriarty out at midfield tore into the game and provided some great ball to Darragh Leen who evaded the Ardfert cover on many occasions and took some great scores. Adam Walker and Thomas O Connor were also beginning to find their feet and put in a great effort. Darragh Broderick began to boss at midfield also and worked tirelessly up and down the field. Eoin Kenny in goals was also finding his outfield teammates with Jonathan Lowe, Adam O Keeffe, Ryan Mc Hugh and Denis Brosnan really getting stuck in and showing some great touches as well as taking some great scores. In all a very good all round performance by the lads who are continuing to show signs of improvement and consistency with every week. Maith sibh ! Ardfert will now travel to Ballymac on Sunday Sept 2nd to play a return match with the U-10s and U-8s at 11 am. We look forward to hosting our friends from Ardfert.

Academy
The Sunday morning academy continued on Sunday morning last with the U-6 lads putting in sterling performances once again. All throughout the summer, the juveniles have progressed ever so much and their acquired skills are being perfected week on week. Last Sunday, players such as Stephen Turner, Michael Brosnan, Wayne O Donoghue and Jamie Burke all displayed their wonderful footballing talents as did Cian Harris, Danny Bourke, Thomas Leen, Lee Wharton, Gearóid Healy and Alex Walshe. Their progress over the last few months has been remarkable and the greatest of credit is due to all their coaches and mentors who are guiding these young budding stars on the right path. Well done to all.
