Buachaillí FAOI 14: ANNASCAUL/LISPOLE 5-13 BALLYMAC 2-12
Last Wednesday evening we travelled to Annascaul to play the local side in our second County League game. Injuries again deprived us of key players against very strong opponents. After a promising start with points from Daire Keane and a well taken goal by Darragh Lynch the scores were tied at 1-4 each midway through the half. The home side then took over adding 1-7. Tadhg Brick pointed for us to leave the half time score Annascaul /Lispole 2-11 Ballymac 1-5.
Annascaul scored two goals and a point after the break to give them a huge lead, Daire Keane, Cillian Gallagher and Ciaran Nolan added points for us. Our opponents got another goal and a point to stretch their lead while our final scores came were a Daire Keane goal and points from Tadhg and Darragh Broderick. Substitutes Darragh Broderick and Cian Godley were very impressive, and it was great to see our injured players make the long journey to support us. Our next game is at home to Gneeveguilla Wednesday evening.

FAOI 12: Played on Friday last in Ballymac in dry conditions the boys took to the field for their first competitive game of the year .
This was the ultimate game of two halves ! The lads never got going in the opening 25 minutes and let Fossa control the game, the one bright light being Aidan O Brien who put in a great performance from half back . Half time. Ballymac 0-1 Fossa 4-9.
Stern words were spoken at the break and they worked , the team were transformed in second half they fought ,defended , attacked , and scored.
A massive effort was put in by all . Darragh Broderick and Darragh Leen controlled midfield and set up wave after wave of attack. However time ran out on the boys but not before they had narrowed the margin by 5-8 to 5-13.
But for a very slow start this is a game the boys could easily have won. Onwards and upwards!
Team Jack Tobin. Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Ciaran Brosnan, Aidan O’Brien, Eoghan Kenny, Brian Cassidy, Darragh Leen, Darragh Broderick, Kyle O’Connor, Jon Lowe, Tim Pollman Dammen, Sean Pollman Dammen and Cian Godley.
On Sunday last we travelled to Ardfert to play the locals. A fine dry evening ensured we had ideal conditions for football. From the throw in Ballymac showed that they had learnt from their previous outing . The team play was a joy to see with the ball being moved on with precision and speed. Cian and Darragh in midfield held the upper hand and provided great ball into Dylan Johnny Kyle Darragh and Brian who punished Ardfert time and again.
Our defence stood firm when asked Bryan, Ciaran, Eoghan and Aidan had fine games. Jack in goals in growing in confidence and made some great saves when called upon. His kickouts are also finding range .
In all the boys can be very happy with this run out and an Easter break now, we play Glenflesk at home on 27th.
ACADEMY: A dry crisp Sunday morning greeted our stars of the future last weekend. We welcomed Keel U10 & U8’s whom we played four games against. For our U10 boys Maurice O Connell, Adam Wharton, Mossie Brennan and Gary Lynch impressed while our U9 boys showed great skills. Amongst those to impress were Luke Horgan, Raymond Lowe, Niall Collins and Padraig Heffernan. The girls kicked academy off in fine style with Orla O’Connor, Abbie Leahy, Yvonne Hurley and Roisin Raggett and Kate Collins impressing on the day. For the U6 boys Daniel Moriarty, Fionn Enright, Rian Lynch , Brian Kelly, Ryan Burke and Darragh McMahon played particularly well.
Quote of the Week: “A trophy carries dust. Memories last forever.”
No Academy next weekend due to Easter Break and we wish all our players and their families a Happy Easter.
