BALLYMAC 2-16 KNOCKNAGOSHEL/BROSNA 2-10
A well turned out pitch in Brosna was the venue for our first game in the Castleisland district league against Knock/Brosna. Scores were tied at two points each early on and when Brian Lonergan soloed through for a fine goal we were 1-4 to 0-3 ahead, two points each coming from Daire Keane and Josh. Two more points from Dara Chawke and one each from James Carmody and Eoin Leahy extended our lead to 1-8 to 0-5 at half time.
We started the second half well. Eoin Leahy getting 1-1, coupled with points form James, Dara Chawke and Davy Rodgers saw us lead 2-12 to 1-6 early on. Knock/Brosna then scored 1-3 without reply but Josh O’Keeffe scored three fine points and one each from Daire Keane and Dylan McHugh saw us win with a comfortable margin A feature of this game was interesting individual duals between Cathal Dunne, Daire Keane and their markers. It was great to see Barry Lyons back in action making two valuable saves in the second half. We are due to play Currow in this competition next Friday evening in Ballymac
