A noteworthy performance was given by the U6 boys Con Sheehan, John Leen, Maurice Harrington and Luke Silles at Academy last weekend. The U8 boys took to the field in Churchill on Sunday last. All were displayed some fine skill and were very impressive on the day claiming all three games. Playing particularly well on the day against Austin Stacks, John Mitchels and Churchill were Michael Prendegast, Diarmuid Galvin, Padraig Heffernan, Niall Collins, William O’Donoghue, Ben Sharpe, Cathal White and Jamie Burke. The U10 boys also travelled to Churchill for the annual local blitz. On a beautiful mild October morning we were treated to a feast of football. Our U9s had wins over Austin Stacks, John Mitchells and Churchill led by team captain Andy Rogers we produced some scintillating football to win the Siobhan Cotter cup. Mossie Breen was fantastic in goals, Luke O’Connell gave an exhibition in defence, ably assisted by Adam Wharton, Donal Daly and Darragh Sweeney commanded mid field for long periods while up front Maurice O’Connell was awesome ripping through the defence and scoring some wonderful scores. Eoin Creedon, Kieran Slattery and Jared O’Briain tried very hard and can be very proud of their performances. Our U10s were unfortunate in their games going down by the narrowest of margins. Led by inspiring captain Denis Brosnan we played superb football. We were unlucky to be without some big names however Adam Joy, Adam Kelly, James Bailey, Adam Sheehy, Ryan McHugh and Bryan Godley put in massive performances. A huge effort was made by everyone. We are looking forward to seeing Cathal Culloty and Gary Lynch back playing again soon. The girls were not to be out done by their counterparts with U10 girls Abbie Leahy, Laura Dunne, Kerry Hennessy, Yvonne Hurley showing some real progress on the pitch. The U6 and U8 girls were outstanding as usual with Sarah, Jill and Debra putting in a great effort. Next Sunday will be our last day of Academy. We are asking all players to make a big effort to come next week.
