U12 GIRLS:
Ballymac 0-06
Corca Dhuine 0-01
Ballymac emerged victorious in the North Kerry Div 3 Plate Final played at Ballyrickard on Sat evening last. This was a great achievement by the girls as it is the first girls team to represent Ballymacelligott in competitive action.
Ballymac played against a strong breeze in the first half and kept things tight at the back with great defensive performances from Rachel Godley, Niamh Rahilly, Millie Luck, Eve Creedon, Ellie Sugrue and Michela Murphy, they kept Corca Dhuine scoreless. Midfielders Therese Keane and Heather Jones won lots of possession and supplied good ball to the forwards. Cora Savage and Lisa Curran had Ballymac’s two first half scores. Half Time score: Ballymac 0-02 Corca Dhuine 0-00.
With the breeze at their backs for the second half Ballymac launched attack after attack and two points from Cora Savage followed. Corca Dhuine responded with a point but good saves from Ballymac goalie Claire Kenny ensured that was their only score of the game. The half forward line of Aine Rice, Oonagh O Keefee and Caroline Hurley were creating plenty of chances and a great run by Emily O Donoghue resulted in Lisa Curran putting over another minor. The scoring was completed by Ellie McElligott who pointed following a great pass from Tara Murphy. With up and coming players like Roisin Long, Jade Riordan, Laura Daly and Maria McDonnell waiting in the wings the future of Ballymac ladies football looks very bright indeed. Ballymac Captain Therese Keane proudly accepted the trophy from Frank McLoughlin and Sponsor David Long of David Long Heating and Plumbing
