Ballymac 1-06
Finuge St Senans 2-06
The girls suffered a heartbreaking loss in the North Kerry shield final on Sunday in Ballyrickard. We started very well and dominated the first half to go in leading by 0-03 to 0-00 at half time. Finuge/St Senans came back strong in the second half and went two points ahead. We hit back with a goal and a point to lead by two with less than 5 mins left. Finuge scored two frees to tie the game. As the game went into stoppage time Finuge won a 45 and this was kicked directly into the net to win the game. The girls did not get what they deserved on this occassion but with the brand of passing football they play, success is just around the corner. It was such a hard way to lose the game but we will be back and roll on the remainder of the county league!
The girls put in a terrific performance all through the game from 1 to 15 against a team who top their county league table and the scoring charts.

FAOI 12: Ballymac Gold Team 3-07 Ardfert 3-10
Our Gold team playing in this top of the table clash put up in a huge performance and great credit must be given to them on the night. Winning 3-07 to 2-03 at half time and now facing a very strong breeze in the second half Ardfert came at us with everything and we were very unlucky not to hold on for victory. Great credit must be given to all the players, management and supporters on the night. We would like to thank Mike Broderick for stepping in on the night to help out and also to Roland Rogers for refereeing this game as no referee turned up.
Ballymac Blue Team 0-08 Ardfert 3-11
Last Sunday night we played Ardfert in the last round of the county league. In terrible conditions for football we were leading at half time 8pts to 2pts. We lost our two midfielders just before halftime through injury and were up against it in the second half. Playing with the wind Ardfert threw everything at us with some great defending our lads put in a great performance which the score does not reflect. We wish a speedy recovery to Kieran Coggins and Liam o Brien. Get well soon boys we look forward to seeing you back on the pitch.
MÍLE BUIOCHAS: Thank You to Currow for hosting the U10 boys during the week and thanks also to our u10 coaches, Don Brosnan and Lesley Sugrue for helping out on the night.
TOURNAMENT: The annual Eric Mason Memorial Tournament took place on Saturday 15th June. The tournament which is organised in consultation with Erics family was a great day out. Six clubs were invited to take part on the day, with each club playing a minimum of two games. The clubs taking part were Eric’s home team Ballymac, St.Pats, Firies, Milltown/Castlemaine, John Mitchels, Scart/Cordal. Ballymac and Na Gaeil opened the blitz with Na Gaeil winning the game. All teams played exemplary football and every game was entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Eric was an active and energetic member of Ballymac Cosite na nOg joining at U8 level. Therefore it was very fitting his first mentor Timmy Brosnan was charged with the important task of selecting the coveted title of ‘Player of the Tournament’. A difficult job on the day as the standard of football played was remarkably high. The title ‘player of the tournament went to William Courtney. Congratulations William. The Final saw Na Gaeil and Firies going head to head. Both teams showed determination to win from the outset however it was Firies that dominated on the day eventually winning the match and awarded the ‘ Eric Mason Memorial Cup’ .The final score being Firies 3-8 Na Gaeil 0-7. Congratulations to the winning captain Daniel O’Connor and his team-mates. We hope to see Firies back next year to defend their title. The day was a huge success, despite the unseasonable chill in the air spirits were high and there was pleasant banter in the stands creating a atmosphere of friendly rivalry among the supporters. The club would like to offer their appreciation to the Mason Family for allowing the competition to take place in memory of Eric. Go raibh maith agaibh to all who helped on Saturday including supporters, referees Roland Rogers and George O’Donnell, coaches, mentors, the ‘backstage crew’ for preparing food and copious amounts of tea and coffee. Thanks also to those who donated food and refreshments and anyone who helped in any way to make the event possible. Your time and effort is much appreciated. Of course the tournament would not be possible without the participation of the six teams. Thank you for travelling to Ballymac GAA football grounds and we look forward to welcoming you back next year. Míle Buiochas do Chách!!
ACADEMY: It was back to grey skies on Sunday morning. However despite the adverse conditions, the players and mentors were as enthusiastic as ever. The U8 girls were put through their paces with Jill, Ri-Ann and Debra shining on the day. The U6 and U8’s welcomed John Mitchels to Ballymac on Sunday and the U10’s travelled to John Mitchels. The U6 boys played Mitchels with John Leen, Sam Slattery, Maurice Harrington, Eoghan Joy, Donnacha Enright and Matthew Rogers playing particularly well. The U8 boys were also in action against Mitchels with Diarmuid Galvin, Ben Sharpe, Alex O’Riordan, Niall Collins, Kealan Lynch, Sean Rice and Tommy Palmer impressing on the day. The U10 boys also had a good outing on Sunday morning in what transpired to be a close encounter against the home side. Well done to Andy Rogers, Cathal Culloty, Adam Joy, Bryan Godley, Luke O’Connell and Michael Mc Carthy who displayed some lovely footwork on the day.
