Due to the inclement weather last Sunday morning, all training for the academy groups was cancelled at short notice. It is hoped to resume training again this coming Sunday morning Sept 23rd starting at 11 am.
U-10 Castleisland District Blitz
This coming Saturday Sept 22nd the annual U-10 blitz will take place at Castleisland Desmonds GAA grounds, beginning at 10 am (note change of venue). Ballymac will be represented by two U-10 teams once again this year and we wish both teams the very best of luck in the competition.

Our U-14 team had a rather facile win over Kerins O Rahillys “B” on Wednesday evening last in Rd 5 of the Coiste Thrá Lí League. By virtue of this victory, Ballymac have qualified for the final which is due to take place in the next few weeks. Ballymac welcomed back a few players having been out of action for a while. Micheál Reidy was back to his level best as was Max O Brien who scored two fine goals in a game totally dominated by Ballymac. Daire Keane and Robert Dowd were the other goalscorers in a very competent display by the entire team. One could argue that it was our best team performance all season with total commitment and endeavour. And on Monday last, we hosted Castleisland Desmonds in the final round of the Castleisland District U-14 League. Victory in this game would also have guaranteed a final berth for our lads. Result and report of this game in next week’s notes.

Both our Blue and Gold teams were in action on Sunday last in the Castleisland District League. Both games were played in Ballymac. Our Blue team played Cordal and our Gold team faced Knocknagoshel in the final round of games. There was a titanic struggle between the Blue team and Cordal with Ballymac put to the pin of their collar to finally edge it by two points on a scoreline of 2-14 to 2-12. David McCarthy and Daire Keane were Ballymacs goalscorers. Barry Lyons, Joshua O Keeffe, Cathal Dunne and Tadhg Brick were also to the fore in a frenetic game. Tadhg was forced to retire from the game with a hand injury and we wish him well in his recovery. Our Gold team were beaten by a very strong Knocknagoshel side by 6 points on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-04 with Dara Leen, Cian Godley and Liam O Brien carrying the fight for Ballymac. Our Gold team have already qualified for the final so meticulous preparation will be done over the next two weeks for that final. Kieran Coggins also sustained an injury in this game but should be ready for the final. Well done to all last Sunday.
