Ballymacelligott GAA CoistenanÓg are thrilled to have been invited to take part in the ComhairlenaMumhan Activity Day in PaircUíChaoimh on Tuesday July 26th. This is an informal blitz with 20 different clubs from all over Munster participating in the competition. Ballymac U-12s are included in a group of four, namely, Legion, Mountcollins and ClonmelÓg. Our team play all three clubs in the afternoon and then get a tour of the stadium. It should be a wonderful day out for the youngsters and we plan to make the most of it. It is a 11-a-side team game but we hope to bring up as many players as possible and give everybody a run-out in the Rebel’s back-yard ! We will organise transport to Cork and make a day out of it and perhaps we may have time to visit some other attractions in Cork. The bus will be departing from Ballymac GAA grounds at 9am and we should be returning about 7 pm. Three games are scheduled for Ballymac commencing at 3pm in PáircUíChaoimh and finish about 4 30pm. Players are asked to bring a change of gear and clothing, a healthy packed lunch and drink and also money for the chipper/shop. The cost of the bus is € 10 and this will be collected on the morning of departure. Looking forward to a fantastic day out.

Little activity in the way of games for our U-16s as we have a three week lay-off at the moment due to U-16 and U-14 County development squads. We return to action next Wed July 27th with an away tie to Ballyheigue. Throw-in for the match is 7 30pm. The club would like to congratulate MossieLeen for making the U-16 North Kerry development squad which travelled to Limerick last week-end and also to both Jack O Shea and Chris Leen for their inclusion on the North Kerry U-14 squad which travelled to Waterford this past week-end. Well done to all three.

Our U-14s had a comprehensive victory over Laune Rangers at Ballymac in the Central Board League last Tuesday on a scoreline of 4-22 to 0-04. Admittedly, Rangers were missing quite a few regulars from their team whereas we were at full strength for the game. Goals from Chris Leen, Jerdie O Shea, CillianBrosnan and David Long ensured a facile win for Ballymac and others to add to the scoreboard were MicheálReidy, Jack O Shea, Chris Rogers and Morgan Quirke. With two wins out of two we are now in a strong position to reach the semi-finals with games against Mitchels andAnnascaul/Lispole to come in the coming weeks. Foireann: Garry Sheehy, Max O Brien, Eoin Lyons, Robert Dowd, David Long, Aaron Dunne, Tomás O Connor, Morgan Quirke, Jack O Shea, CillianBrosnan, Chris Rogers, MicheálReidy, Daniel Goggin, Chris Leen, Jerdie O Shea, Kevin O Connor, Brian O Connor, Barry Lyons, Joe Cassidy, Gary Horan. And on Sunday afternoon, we made it three wins out of three when overcoming the stern challenge of John Mitchels with a one goal victory in the end. Mitchels have much improved since earlier in the season and were more than a match for our lads. Jack O Sheas first half goal was the only difference between two evenly balanced teams and no doubt both teams will be at the business end of things come seasons end. Our final game in the Central Board Region is against Annascaul which is due to be played next Sunday at noon. Team management will inform players of training times and fixtures.

Congrats to our U-12s “Blue” team who completed their Central Board League undefeated with a close fought win over Desmonds on Thurs evening last in Ballymac. It was tit for tat for most of the game with both sides having periods of dominance and the result in doubt right up to the very end. Great credit to both teams who exhibited marvellous footballing skills and showed tremendous endeavour throughout. A campaign well played by all who participated and this made all mentors proud of the entire panel. Our “Gold” team were also victorious against Desmondswhich left our proud team on two victories from four games and everybody played their part. The standard of football in this game was also very high with stirring performances from all. Everybody had their role to play and all got much game time. Well Done to all players on both U-12 panels and we now await the commencement of the Castleisland District League in late August. The U-10 team under the stewardship of Jer Lynch, Michael Brosnan and Liam Goggin gave a brilliant display of football at the annual John Mitchels Blitz on Saturday last July 16th. Despite the inclement weather, our lads made little of the harsh conditions and truly demonstrated what a talented team of players they all are. Playing 5 games during the day and winning four was an outstanding achievement for the team and it appears all made the best of the day. Also, playing in Austin Stacks Park was a highlight for them all and they will no doubt carry the memories of the day along with them for some time to come. Having lost to Beale in the opening fixture, the lads knuckled down and went on to win their remaining games against Annascaul, Dr.Crokes, Desmonds and Rathmore. The team management are all so proud of their efforts and are keen to bring this team to another level. Well done to all involved, Foireann: Kyle O Connor, Oscar Reidy Gilroy, Jonathan Lowe, Darragh Lynch, Tomás Lynch, Tommy Brosnan, Ciaran Brosnan, Darragh Broderick, Harry Luck, Kieran Coggin, Liam O Brien, Aidan O Brien, EoinCulloty, EoghanLeahy,Brian Cassidy, David Rogers, DarraghBrosnan.

Not to be outdone, our U-8s achieved similar results and in fact went one better by remaining undefeated throughout the day at the John Mitchels Blitz. Again, the lads produced delightful football against the opposition and overcame Desmonds, Rathmore, Annascaul and Beale and then drew with Dr.Crokes. The management team of Fintan Kelly, Liam Joy and Don Brosnan were ecstatic with the displays of our budding young stars and no doubt the future of Ballymac football is secure with such a talented group of players. Again well done to all involved ! Sincere thanks to Kevin McMahon and the organising committee at John Mitchels for the efficient way the blitz was organised and conducted on the day. It is one of the most established and successful underage blitzes in the county and long may it continue. Due to the continuing inclement weather conditions, training for the girls and for the U-6s was cancelled last Sunday morning at short notice. Hopefully, the weather will improve for this coming week-end. We also hope that Na Gaeil will visit us with their U-10s and their U-8s this Sunday morning at 11 am.
