U-13 County League Rd 2 Result: Na Gaeil 3 – 12 Ballymac 1 – 07
Played at Killeen, Oakpark on Sunday evening last our U-13s were defeated by a very strong and skilful Na Gaeil side in Round 2 of the County League. With expectations realistic prior to the game our lads stuck to the task at hand and lost nothing in defeat to a better team.
Missing three regulars on the night and with David Rogers deputising in goals, Ballymac started brightly and playing into a stiffening wind were first on the scoreboard with a point from the ever-dependable, Daire Keane. Indeed, Daire proceeded to have a fine game and ran himself to a standstill towards the end of the match. Na Gaeil slowly began to dominate in certain quarters and led 1-05 to 2 points at half-time. Ballymac defended very resolutely with Barry Lyons and Kieran Coggin in particular leading by example. On the resumption, Na Gaeil urged on by the vocal home support edged further ahead but great credit to Ballymac, the Blue and Gold responded with full-back Tadhg Brick leading the charge and super-sub Dylan McHugh was on hand to finish a well worked attack to the net, reducing the deficit somewhat. Two further pointed frees from Daire Keane had Ballymac back in the game but a late goal by the home side sealed the issue on the night. Ballymac corner-backs Liam O Brien and Dylan Dunne Moriarty played exceptionally well as did wing back Brian Cassidy. The mid-field pairing of David Nolan Tighe and in particular Joshua O Keeffe covered every blade of grass and in attack Darragh Leen in the first half and Ciarán Nolan Tighe, Brian Lonergan and Cian Godley all impressed. Substitutues Jonathan Lowe and Darragh Lynch also played their part in a fast flowing encounter between two teams who endeavoured to play open football at all times. Tadhg Brick was Laoch na hImeartha. Foireann : David Rogers, Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Tadhg Brick, Liam O Brien, Eoin Culloty, Barry Lyons, Brian

FAOI 12:
We were again invited to play in Newmarket U12 football blitz which took place last Saturday. Our group was Ballymac, Scartaglin, Newmarket and Knocknagree. In wonderful sunshine we started our day with a game against Knocknagree which we won 1-7 to 1-2. Next up we played the home side Newmarket and with us up one point going into the last minute, we were caught with a late goal to leave the final score 1-2 to 1-4. Our final group game was against our near neighbours Scartaglin which we came out on top on a scoreline of Ballymac 7-3 to Scartaglin 1-3. With two wins out of three games is wasn’t enough for us to progress to the final which the home side Newmarket went on to win after a cracking game against Firies. Great credit must be given to our lads who put in a great days work and captain on the day was Liam o Brien. We would like to thank Newmarket Gaa Club for a wonderful day out.
