SPA 1-03 BALLYMAC 2-08
We resumed our County League campaign away to Spa last Wednesday evening. A solid defensive performance was the key to this victory. We limited the opposition to two scores in each half and none from play overall. Spa were well on top for most of the first half but our defence coped well, with Eddie Rodgers and Tadhg Brick in fine form. With 20 minutes gone we were 1-1 to 0-1 behind. Dara Keane had pointing for us with their goal coming from a penalty. When a Dara Reagan effort came back off the crossbar Keelan was on hand to add another point after which Dara Reagan pointed from a free. Josh won possession from a Dara Reagan free and headed goal ward before passing to Dara Chawke who was fouled in the square. Keelan converted the resulting penalty and Josh added another point. Amazingly we had turned it around and lead at half time 1-4 to 1-1.
Spa pointed from a free shortly after the restart. With ten minutes gone Tadhg Brick disrupted an opposition attack; Keelan won possession and took off on one of his trademark runs finishing to the net. A further few goal chances were missed while the goalposts denied us on a few more occasions. Further points by Liam O Malley, Dara Reagan, Josh, and Keelan finished our scoring to give us our third victory in a row. Our next game is at home to John Mitchel’s on the 29th of July.

The U10 had Go Games in Scartaglin on Monday the 13th of July. An enjoyable evening of football was enjoyed by the players. We travelled to play in the Annual Miltown/Castlemaine Blitz on Sunday last. In our group games we had two excellent 1 point victories over Austin Stacks and Miltown/Castlemaine with just one loss to a good Ardfert side. These results saw us qualify for a semi final game with Beaufort. A goal by the mid Kerry side mid way through the second half was the decisive score in a close game which saw them qualify for the final. Our lads can be proud of their efforts on the day and all players gave 100% commitment. Many thanks to Miltown/Castlemaine for their invitation to this Blitz which was very well organised. Panel: T. Plamer, M. Culloty, L. Horgan, D. Galvin, D. Lucid, A. Riordan, S. Rice, N. Collins, M. Predergast, R. Lowe, J. Burke, A. Horgan, C. Palmer, K. Collins. The U10’s are participating in the John Mitchel’s Blitz next Saturday the 25th of July at 10am. The boys are attempting to retain their crown from last year’s tournament.
