County League Rd 6 Result; Ballymac 0-10 St. Pats 1-6. Ballymac maintained their unbeaten record in this final round game in the County League with a narrow one point victory over the Blennerville side. Played in Ballymac last Wednesday, this game in truth was a dead rubber as both sides had already qualified for the semi-finals. However a win for the home side would have guaranteed Ballymac a home semi-final, of which they obliged but just about. The game did not rise above mediocrity as both sides were probably keeping their powder dry for the semi-final encounter between them. Ballymac went 5 points ahead before St. Pats registered a score with Christy Leen and Vincent Horan raising the white flag for Ballymac. Mossie Leen , unfortunately had his penalty brilliantly saved by the St. Pats keeper and this incident only drove on the Blennerville side who came more into the game. Jonathan Brick was having an outstanding game for Ballymac as was Eoin Lyons in goal who could not have been faulted for the concession of the goal. Aaron Dunne replaced the out of sorts Dylan Goggin and Danny Pierce had his hands full trying to rein in Eoin O Carroll. A satisfactory conclusion to the league with 5 wins and only 1 draw, thus topping the division. This Wednesday Aug 24th sees the semi-final against St. Pats being played in Ballymac with throw-in time of 7pm. We hope that as many supporters can attend the game and urge on the team from the stand.

We hosted our friends from Currow last Tuesday and on a beautiful evening for football we played two U-10 games and an U-8 team in the Senior field. There was massive numbers playing football that evening with very little between all teams. Every game was played in a sporting manner with the likes of Diarmuid Lynch, Ciarán Brosnan, Jonathan Lowe, Darragh Leen, Eoin Culloty and Eoghan Leahy all excelling for the U-10s. Our U-8s not to be outdone also put in an impressive performance with Garry Lynch, Andy Rogers, Mossie Brennan and James Kenny all displaying their wonderful footballing talents. The U-10 girls also took on their Currow counterparts with Niamh Rahilly, Caroline Hurley and Millie Luck taking the game to Currow. All in all a very pleasant evening of football and we hope to return the visit to Currow in the not too distant future. Many thanks to all the Currow players and mentors for facilitating the game.
U-13 Rose Cup Tournament
One of the highlights of the year thusfar was our U-13s performance during the Rose Cup Football tournament in Tralee last Saturday. Having qualified for the Cup Final which is the Premier competition on the day we put it up to Kerins O Rahillys and gave them a run for their money in the final but unfortunately we just came up short in the end. Having lost to Milltown/Castlemaine in the opening round, we went on to defeat Laune Rangers, Na Gaeil and a massive win over St. Senans saw us through to the final. All the players did themselves, their families and the club proud as they put on a spectacular display of football right throughout the day, gaining admirers from everybody who watched the team play. The likes of Max O Brien, Eoin O Malley and Tomás O Connor would make any club team such was their outstanding performances. Not far behind them were Micheál Hoare, Tadhg Brick, Barry Lyons and Eddie Rogers who all played consistently well. Brian Lonergan, Keelan Brosnan, Micheál Reidy and Joshua O Keeffe all played their part in this wonderful celebration of football. Team mentors Tony Silles and Fiona Goggin were delighted with everybody’s commitment and indeed behaviour during the blitz and parents and supporters alike must be so proud of the team. Darragh Regan, Paddy O Donnell, Jerdie O Shea and Brian O Connor all played their part as did Gary Horan, Robert Dowd and Liam O Malley. “Will-o-the-wisp” Daire Keane proved a thorn in the side for all opposition and David Long covered every blade of grass for the cause. Ballymacelligott GAA Coiste na nÓg wish to congratulate all and thank ye for the time, dedication and energy during the day. Great credit is also due to team management who have assembled a really tight-knit group of youngsters. And on Saturday evening we participated in the Rose of Tralee Parade for the second consecutive year and reports have it that all enjoyed the experience. Again, well done to all !!
Trip to Croke Park
Last Sunday, a group of juveniles, mentors and parents headed to Dublin to see the Kingdom overcome the challenge of Mayo in the All-Ireland semi-final. Heading off at 8am we breakfasted in Portlaoise and reached Dublin in plenty of time to see both the Minor and senior games. All behaved themselves impeccably, including the parents and it was well worth the trip with Kerry reaching the All-Ireland Final once more. Congrats to Jack O Connor, Colm Cooper and all the Kerry team for a wonderful victory over the Westeners. Ciarraí abú !!
Leaving Cert Results
