The U 16 2014 season started training on the 20th Feb 2014 on a Thursday night. The backroom team consisted of Jer Regan, Liam McElligott and John Creagh. The panel of players consisted of six U 14 and sixteen U 16 = 22 players in total to pick from for the year.
I would like to thank Tony Silles, Gene O Keffee and Roland Rodgers and Jer Lynch for all their input this year as they were a great help. As the panel of U 16 was small this year the players from the U 14 panel were very important. We had a great year as a result of the cooperation between the management of the U 14 and the U 16.
Training was held once a week with a game at the weekend. A lot of players were involved in Rugby, Hurling, and other sports so to get them all training at least once a week was difficult.
We played in 4 competitions and we were successful in two of them. We beat Castleisland Desmonds in the Catleisland District B final. This was a great result as we were down seven points at half time but we put in a great second half to claim victory. We beat John Mitchels in the town league B final which again was a great victory. We were very unlucky against Milltown in the Central Region semi final. We were leading with about 3 min left and a few bad decisions from the referee gave victory to Milltown.
County League semi final beaten by Scart Cordal.
Panel of players consisted of Paddy O’Donnell, Robert Dowd, David Long, Jerdie O Shea, Max O Brien, Thomas O Connor, Michael Reidy, Garry Horan, Kellan Brosnan, Ross Mansfield, Eddie Rodgers, Michael Hoare, Darragh Regan, Darragh Clifford, Eoin O Malley, Liam O Malley, Barry Lyons, Brian Lonergan, Cathal Dunne, Daire Keane, Cillian Gallagher and Joshua O Keeffe.
I would also like to wish the senior U 16 players who are progressing to the U 18 ranks the best of luck. Garry Horan, Michael Reidy, Thomas O Connor, Max O Brien, Jerdie O Shea, David Long, Robert Dowd, and Paddy O Donnell. Thanks for all your help this year.
Lastly I would like to thank all the parents for getting their sons to training and games this year.
BAG PACKING
Many thanks to all who gave up of their time at this busy time of year to participate in Bag packing in the Horans Centre last weekend. Thanks also to those who contributed. All funds raised over the weekend goes to the continued development of under age football in Ballymac.
The Club would like to wish all Club members and their families a Merry Christmas and health & happiness for the New Year. We would also like to take this opportunity of thanking anybody who helped the Club in any way in 2014.
