Our two U10 boys teams represented the club at the Castleisland district blitz at a beautiful Knocknagoshel on Saturday last. The numbers were tight with us having 21 on the day but young James Kenny was on hand to fall in with the lads and he played a huge part on the day. The younger lads (yellows) were managed by Eddie Lynch and Liam Joy on the day with James Godley and Michael Brosnan looking after the 2nd year u10s (Blues). The yellows had a great outing in their group stage winning both their games against Desmonds and Currow. This ensured the yellow team were into the final where they played Knocknagoshel. A tight encounter ensued with very little between the sides at half time. In the second half the lads got really stuck in and eventually ran out winners. Captain Adam O’Keeffe collected the shield on behalf of the team and made a great speech thanking all involved. Team: Tim Pollman Damann, Adam O Keeffe, Adam Joy, Sean Pollman Damann, Thomas O Connor, Cathal Culloty, Sean Horan, James Bailey, James Kenny, Padraig O’ Sullivan, Ryan mc Hugh
The Blue team met Scartaglin and Brosna in their group games. The games against Scartaglin tested the boys but they eventually got on top with some great play by Darragh Leen and Jack Tobin at full forward. The game with Brosna was rip roaring, the first half saw the boys lose 3 goals on the bounce, at half time they had a titanic battle on their hands but in true form they responded with great play and scores from Brian Cassisdy, Cian Godley and Ciaran Brosnan. With almost fulltime upon us Cian Godley secured and converted a free to bring us to 5 minutes extra time. A tense five minutes followed where a small lapse in concentration cost the boys when Brosna finished the ball to the net, however our lads would not give up and brought the scorline to within 1 point but time ran out and our boys had to settle for a place in the B final. Finals are there to be won and our lads took to the field against Cordal. The early exchanges were level however our lads showed their determination to make up for the prevoius loss and turned in a great display in the second half. Jonathan Lowe and Eoghan Kenny doing some great work. The lads ran out comfortable winners at the end and captain Darragh Leen collected the shield on behalf of his teammates, all celebrated heartily on a job well done. Team Darragh Leen, Ciaran Brosnan, Aidan O Brien, Eoghan Kenny, Jonathan Lowe, Bryan Cassidy, Cian Godley, Brian Godley, Jack Tobin, Dylan mc Hugh, Kyle O Connor

Castleisland District League Rd 4 Result : Ballymac 2-10 Desmonds 4-17.
Last Monday evening we played Desmonds in the final round of the District League; A victory would have assured a final spot for us but the visitors had a major say in the outcome. Desmonds got off to a flying start and led 1-05 to no score before Ballymac captain Ross Mansfield goaled for the homeside. Desmonds added a further seven points before half-time as against a further four for Ballymac. With changes made at half-time Ballymac continued to chase the game and struggled in many areas at times. Kevin O Connor netted our second goal late in the second half but it just was not enough against a very strong Desmonds side. Congrats and well done to former Ballymac footballer, Daniel Goggin for representing his school, O Brennan N.S. at Croke Park last Sunday in the mini-game during half time of the minor match. Dan acquitted himself very well and we are all proud of his exploits in Croker.
