The VHI GAA Cúl Camp will begin at Ballymac CLG Senior pitch this coming Monday Aug 1st, starting at 10 am sharp and will continue through to Fri Aug 5th. For those who have signed up to the camp should bring suitable and appropriate playing gear, tracksuit, change of gear and rain jacket in the event of rain. Children should also bring sun cream and sunhat should we be fortunate enough to have some sunshine and also bring plenty of water and towel. Don’t forget to bring a healthy packed lunch and drink also. The football camp finishes at 2 30pm each day so we ask that all parents be present at that very time to collect their children. For those who have yet to sign up can do so on the Monday morning when we will have application forms there. Looking forward to an enjoyable week’s activity and of course to some fine weather.

Our U-16 team travelled to Ballyheigue last night to play the hosts in Round 3 of the County League. With Ballyheigue sitting at the top of the table it was imperative that Ballymac came away with a positive result. Having won our two previous games hopes were high of a victory. Result and report of this game will be in next weeks notes. Next Wednesday Aug 3rd we travel to Ballyduff in round 5 with throw-in at 7 30pm.

County League Rd 1 Result : Churchill 2-07 Ballymac 1-21. Despite a very sluggish opening half, Ballymac finally got things together to see of the challenge of a very plucky Churchill side. Having kicked no less than 17 wides in the game, Ballymac were still in control of the tie, particularly in the second half when conceding only one point and kicking 16. There is obviously still a lot of work to be done but team management of Tony Silles, Gene O Keeffe and Fiona Goggin can be pleased with an opening victory. Those to impress in Churchill were Robert Dowd and Tadhg Brick in defence, Tomás O Connor in mid-field and Paddy O Donnell and Brian O Connor in attack. And then on Sunday evening last we travelled to Ballybunnion to take on local side Beale in Rd 2 of the County League. With a depleted squad we struggled to contain the North Kerry outfit and lost out by a point on a scoreline 2-04 to 9 points. It was a subpar performance from all our lads with the exception of Darragh Regan, Micheál Reidy and Michael Hoare in attack. A disappointing outing but we hope that fortune will turn our way with next Sundays fixture which is a home tie against Finuge. Throw-in time is 7 pm but this is subject to confirmation.

Having already qualified for the semi-finals our lads are still anxious to end the League phase on a winning note having already seen off the challenge of Laune Rangers, John Mitchels and Churchill. Report in next weeks edition.

The club welcomed the visit of Na Gaeil on Sunday last when we had two U-10 games running simultaneously and one U-8 game. The play was fast and furious from all quarters and some exceptional score-taking was the order of the day. Progress is certainly being made by all with no exception and the likes of Jonathan Lowe, Kyle O Connor, Michael Moynihan and Tommy Brosnan have improved no end in recent weeks. Our U-8s also had a very competitive game against their counterparts with many players standing out on a perfect morning for football. Mossie Brennan, Sean Horan, Adam Kelly, Donal Daly and Denis Brosnan were to the fore throughout along with Jack Dowd and Mark O Connor. So a very useful outing for the lads and all seemed to have enjoyed the return game with Na Gaeil. We thank everybody from Na Gaeil for visiting us at Balymac and we will ensure that we will travel to Tralee to take on the Green and White in the near future. There is also a possibility that our U-8s and U-10s will play Firies on Sat week August 6th at 10am in Farranfore. Further details will be posted in due course.

Both our U-10 and U-8 girls also hosted our friends from Na Gaeil last Sunday and report has it that great progress is also being made by the ladies. Great credit is due to team mentors on the day, namely, Siobhán O Keeffe, Kieran Savage, John Rice and Donal Rahilly. Training for the girls will now take place twice a week, on Sunday mornings and again on Wednesday evenings. Team management will inform players of times for training sessions.
NO JUVENILE TRAINING As this coming week-end is a bank holiday and with Kerry taking on Limerick in the All-Ireland Quarter final on Sunday in Croke park at 2 pm, training has been cancelled until the following Sunday August 7th again commencing at 11 am sharp.
