Ballymac 0-09
Firies 3-03
Our fantastic girls U12 team lost the county league final to Firies in a downpour on Sunday last. Having gone through the entire league unbeaten it was most unfortunate to be beaten in the final. The girls played their hearts out and did their club proud and can hold their heads high. The team has given everyone great memories all through the year. Mentors Mary, Donal, Kieran and Anthony are all very proud of each and every one of them. Their day in the sun is not very far away! A big thanks also to all the parents for their fantastic support during the year.

U-13 County League Rd 4 Result : Ballymac 4 – 05 An Ghaeltacht 4 – 12
Played at Ballymacelligott on Monday last, our U-13s gave a thoroughly entertaining performance against the West Kerry side and despite going under by 7 points, the victory was there for the taking only for some very wayward shooting by our lads. Ballymac had as much possession as their opponents and worked the ball into very scorable positions only to see the final attempt go wide time and time again. A little more awareness by the Ballymac players when in possession would have proven the difference and this element of their play can be improved upon with more focused training.
Again, short three regulars on the night, Ballymac gave it their all from the outset and their work rate never waned throughout the game. Tadhg Brick was once again ever impressive at full back and indeed in the second half made a few marauding raids into the heart of an Ghaeltacht defence, yielding a goal towards the end of the game. Dylan Dunne Moriarty has proved to be a very versatile defender over recent weeks and gave it everything to the cause last Monday. Joshua O Keeffe at mid-field led by example and despite an ankle injury mid-way through the second half soldiered on ’til the final whistle. In attack, Daire Keane despite not having the best of games, still managed three points and was unlucky not to score a goal on a number of occasions. Converted wing-forward David Rogers proved to be an important link man and pointed a great effort in the second half. Kieran Coggins at mid-field played one of the games of his life and his fetching ability is quite amazing. Super-sub Dylan McHugh was on hand to score two second half goals and Cathal Dunne despite a knee injury gave an extra option in attack.
With one final game against O Rahillys, which is to be played this week, our lads know that with an improved effort, victory will not be too far away. Foireann : Brian Lonergan, Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Tadhg Brick, Eoin Culloty, Barry Lyons, Cillian Gallagher, Liam O Brien, Kieran Coggins, Joshua O Keeffe, David Rogers, Jack O Connor, Darragh Broderick, Cian Godley, Daire Keane, Cathal Dunne, Cian Godley, James Carmody, Diarmuid Lynch, Darragh Lynch, Eoghan Leahy, Dylan McHugh, Jonathan Lowe.
ACADEMY: Our U10 boys put in a superb display to win the final in Milltown on Sunday. Lead by team captain Sean Horan, we defeated Laune Rangers, Annascaul, and Laune Rangers a second time to win an epic final. Cathal Culloty was unbeatable in goals, Adam Sheehy, Darragh Sweeney, Denis Brosnan and Adam Kelly were heroic in defence. Tim and Sean Pollman were outstanding in mid-field. Adam Joy, Donal Daly, Gary Lynch, Ryan McHugh, Thomas O’Connor, Sean Horan and James Bailey were outstanding up front. It is fantastic that we had the numbers to field a second team on the day and also played well including Maurice O’Connell who took a blow to the nose for his efforts and James Kenny who scored a superb fisted goal. Thank You to all the U8s who turned up and played out of their skins and qualified second in their group which was an excellent achievement considering over half the team were eight years of age or younger and they were competing against ten year olds! Congratulations and well done to all the players and mentors Eddie O’Connell, Fintan Kelly, James Godley, Dave Slattery and Eddie Lynch. Míle Buíochas also to all who helped out in any way on the night including the parents and supporters who made the journey to Milltown. It is much appreciated.
The U8 boys were in action in Keel on Friday last. Those that impressed were Jack O’Connor, Michael Prendegast, Evan Boyle, Cathal White, Tom Long and Shane Gilroy. A fantastic effort, well done boys. Also impressing their coaches this week were Luke Griffin, Mairtin McKivergan, Micheal O’Connor, Conall Savage and Con Shehan for the U6 boys. Keep up the great work boys. As always a great effort was made by all the girls. Well done girls.
BREITHLAETHANTA: Happy Birthday to Laura Sugrue, Jack O’Flaherty and Christopher Lowe.
