Over the past week our U-16 team recorded two impressive victories against Castleisland Desmonds and Knock/Brosna respectively. On Monday March 26th, in the opening round of the Central Region, we had a 4 point victory over Desmonds in a game that was keenly contested right throughout. Our goalscorers on the night were Vincent Horan and Jack O Shea in a 2-15 to 3-08 scoreline. And on Friday evening last March 30th, we qualified for the Castleisland District Final with a three point victory over Knock/Brosna. In a tough, dour and physical game, the lads managed to pull through with goals coming from Cian Lonergan and Vincent Horan, just edging past the combination side. Mentors Paul Horan, Liam Goggin and John Bermingham will be looking for an improved performance in the final which takes place in the coming weeks. Rd 2 of the Central Region took place last Monday evening with an away tie to Milltown/Castlemaine. Report in next weeks notes.

Ballymac Academy
Our second session of the year took place last Sunday morning with massive numbers attending once again on a fine and sunny morning. Emphasis at these coaching sessions is on fun and participation and trying to learn the basic skills of Gaelic Football. We have a very dedicated group of coaches who will assist in any way possible to help the youngsters to acquire these basic skills. From the U-8 girls, players such as Shauna Griffin, Aideen Lynch and Niamh Lynch all impressed last Sunday morning and they are quickly adapting to the rules of football. Niall Collins, Jamie Sugrue, Adam Wharton, Seán Rice and Andy Rogers all from the U-8s, displayed fabulous skills and have progressed ever so much since last year. Not to be outdone, our U-10s who are very capable bunch of lads, trained very hard over the hour and a half with Adam Sheehy, Dylan McHugh, Cian Godley and Ciarán Brosnan all to the fore. Coaches Liam Joy, Mike Brosnan, Eddie Lynch and Roland Rogers are very impressed with the work been done so far. Remember keep practising those skills correctly at home.
