FAOI 14: We play Ardfert in the Coiste Tra-li div 2 final next Sunday 6th October, no venue or time arranged at time of print. We hope to see plenty home support on the day. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Eoghan O’Malley who broke his ankle last weekend. Eoghan has been one of our star players all year, never has a bad game and keeps going at full throttle from start to finish. Congratulations to the members of our panel who lined out with the u16s last Sunday and won Coiste Tra-li div 2 final.
ACADEMY: Many thanks to Churchill U6’s and U8’s who travelled to Ballymac on Sunday morning There was some very impressive football on display throughout the weekend. The skills of the players are improving weekly and are clear for all to see, well done to all coaches and mentors. The U6 boys were in flying form with Luke Griffin, Dave Lucid, Michael O’Connor, Sam Boyle, Matthew Rogers and Cian Harris all impressing on the day. Not to be outdone the U8 boys also put on a good display. Conor Daly, Aidan Horgan, Tommy Palmer, Shane Gilroy, Evan Boyle and Alex Walsh caught the eye of their mentors. Our U10 boys travelled to Scartaglin to play in the Annual Castleisland District Blitz on Saturday 28th of September. We had two teams participating, under nines and under tens. Our under nines had comfortable victories over Scartaglin and Mitchels to reach the final. In a most exciting and close contest led by inspiring captain Donal Daly, we were so unfortunate to go under by the narrowest of margins. Players to impress were Niall Collins, Darragh Sweeny, Eoin Creedon, Maurice O’Connell, Gary Lynch and Mark O’Connor. Our under tens led by captain Cathal Culloty played extremely well to reach the final and defeated Castleisland comfortably. Players to impress were Denis Brosnan, Sean Horan, Adam Sheehy, Thomas O’Connor and Bryan Godley. Thanks to all the parents who travelled and supported us. We are looking forward to seeing James Kenny back in action soon. The cailiní were also showing their skills on Sunday with a fantastic effort made by Ciara Palmer, Kate O’Connor, Emily O’Donoghue and Geraldine Cassidy. Keep up the great work girls. Míle Buiochas also to Eddie O’Connell, James Godley , Eddie Lynch, John Rice and Pa White and Dave Slattery for their outstanding dedication to the boys throughout the year. The U6 girls were also showcasing their talents on Sunday with Jill, Olga and Rí-Ann playing particularly well. There will be no Academy on Sunday 6th October due to the Ted O’Keeffe Family Fun Day.
