We were away to Annascaul/Lispole in our second central region game last Monday evening. Despite the wind, rain and heavy underfoot conditions both teams played some good football. Both team pointed early with Josh scoring for us. Keelan pointed for us after ten minutes and Dara Keane was at the end of a long free by Josh to find the net. Dara Keane added two more points, with Annascaul getting their second point. Just before half-time Keelan put Dara Chawke through to get our second goal. We into the break 2-4 to 0-2 ahead.
With the wind at their backs our opponents were a different team in the second half. Goals in the first, third, and the fourth minute put them a point ahead. Josh pointed for us and then scored a goal from the penalty spot. Liam o’ Malley pointed to put us 4 points up. Tadhg Brick went full stretch to block a certain goal, but disaster struck again a minute later when an Annascaul forward drew on the ball about 20 yards out and it finished up in the corner of the Ballymac net. They added 3 more points inside the next five minutes to go 2 points ahead. Dara Reagan kicked two frees to level matters but our opponents again pointed to finish narrow winners. It was very disappointing not to get something out of the game in which we had only 3 wides in total. Eddie Rodgers, Liam o’ Malley, Dara Keane and impressive sub Davy Rodgers tried hard for us. We are at home to Gaeltacht next Monday evening (6 April) at 6.45.FAOI 14
Ballymac 2-3 Glenflesk 5-14
Our first competitive game of the year was played in ideal conditions at Ballymac. We were short six players through injury, illness and absence. The boys played very well in the first half and kept pace with Glenflesk up to half time. Some nice interpassing play by the lads was capped by a poacher’s goal by Darragh Broderick when he took a quick free kick and spotting the keeper off his line chipped him and the ball nestled in the corner. A great boost for the boys. Half time 2-3 to 1-7, a one point deficit to be made up by our lads. Unfortunately the loss of 6 of our regulars began to tell in the second half. Glenflesk began to dominate and out-muscled our younger and lighter lads in possession. Bryan Cassidy, David Rogers Johnny Lowe and Dara Leen worked tirelessly to stem the flow of the Glenflesk attack with little result. A lot of lessons will be learnt by the lads in what was for many of them their first competitive game on the senior full sized pitch. Plenty to work on in training but we are very confident this group can and will improve with each passing week. It was great to have Eoin Culloty back from a long layoff and we wish Dylan, Kyle and Liam a speedy recovery from injury.
Team: Eoin Culloty, Jack Sugrue, Bryan Cassidy, Eoghan Kenny, Ciaran Brosnan, Cian Godley, Jack Tobin, Darragh Broderick, David Rogers, Johnny Lowe, Dara Leen, Diarmuid Lynch, Darragh Lynch, Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Aidan O Brien, Cathal Culloty, Sean Polmann Daamen, Tim Polman Daamen

On the day we fielded 2 teams and both teams aquitted themselves very well. It was a great thrill for the boys to play in one of the premier grounds in the County.
