Firies 2-02
Ballymac 2-04
On friday night last our under 12 girls travelled to Farranfore to face Firies in the County semi final, on a night of torrential rain our
girls handled the conditions better and showed great heart & determination in a hugely exciting game that wasnt decided until the
dying moments. Cora Savage set us on our way with a superb goal, which was then cancelled out by Firies, both teams added points the leave the sides level at the break on 1-1 apiece.
Firies started stronger after the break & opened up a 3 point lead, but our girls were saving the best for last, another Cora Savage point
followed by a fine point from Emily O Donoghue left one between the teams, with the game in the balance Emily then pounced for a cracking
goal, Firies did have two more attacks but couldnt break down an excellent ballymac defence & we held on to win on a scoreline of
Ballymac 2-5 Firies 2-3.
We now travel to Kilcummin next Sunday to face Cromane in the Final, so please come out and support these girls and hopefully return home as
county champions!

Eric Mason Memorial Tournament
This inaugural tournament in memory of former club member and player, Eric Mason who passed away last year, took place at the
Ballymacelligott GAA Club grounds on Saturday last. We were very fortunate with the dry weather on the day as this six team tournament
took centre stage. Teams from Newmarket, Co. Cork, St. Pats, Knock/Brosna, Milltown/Castlemaine and Gneeveguilla joined with the
Ballymac U-16 team in a 6 team Blitz which got under way at 10 30am. After a series of round-robin games Ballymacelligott emerged as
Group 1 Winners with Newmarket finishing Runners–Up and in Group 2, Milltown/Castlemaine were table-toppers with St. Pats in second place.
There was some fine attacking and flowing football in evidence on the day and it was very entertaining for the large crowd in attendance.
In the semi-finals, St. Pats surprised the host club with a 3 point victory and Milltown/Castlemaine proved too strong for Newmarket. It
was a showdown between too evenly matched teams in the final with play swinging from end to end but eventually Milltown/Castlemaine possessed
too many ace players and ultimately emerged as inaugural winners of the Eric Mason Memorial Cup. There was also a Player of the Tournament
and this honour went to Conor O Keeffe from Newmarket. Understandably, it was an emotional day for the Mason Family and all involved in the
organisation of the day were very proud of how the day went. The club would like to offer their appreciation to the Mason Family for
allowing the competition to take place in memory of Eric and all would agree that it was a huge success. It is hoped that this blitz will
continue from year to year and grow from strength to strength. Ballymacelligott GAA Coiste na nÓg would like to extend their gratitude to all ( too many to mention ) who made the event possible and we would like to thank all the participating teams in the blitz.

Central League Rd 2 Result : An Ghaeltacht 2-11 Ballymac 0-10
On Tuesday evening July 3rd we travelled to Gallarus to play An Ghaelthact in the 2nd round of the Central Region. We lined out
missing 6 of our regulars and also played into a strong breeze in the first half. The home side settled quickly and we were 2 goals down
after ten minutes. Despite the bestefforts of Eddie Rogers, David Long and Brian Lonergan, An Ghaelthacht continued scoring and at half time
we trailed by 2–7 to 0—1.With the wind at our backs we played with more urgency in the 2nd half and driven on by Michael Reidy, Darragh
Regan and Tomas O Connor, who scored 6 points, we gradually reduced the lead. Despite hitting the crossbar on two occasions, that all
important goal eluded us, and we werea few points down at the final whistle. Foireann : b lonergan ,j o keeffe ,k brosnan, c gallagher,d

County League Rd 2 Result : Ballymac 4-10 Kilcummin 1-08
Played at Ballymac last Sunday evening, Ballymac made it two wins on the bounce with a hard fought win over the East Kerry side. In truth,
the final scoreline was a little flattering to the victors as, with 10 minutes to go Kilcummin led by 3 points. With a few positional switches, Ballymac gained great momentum and scored 3-04 in those remaining minutes with a flurry of points from Darragh Regan, David Rogers and Daire Keane. Keelan Brosnan and Darragh Regan also found the net in the latter stages of the game which left the visitors reeling at the final whistle. There were outstanding displays from Brian Lonergan at full-back, Cillian Gallagher in the corner, Joshua O Keeffe at wing-back and Ciarán Nolan-Tighe and James Carmody in attack. It was a thrilling comeback from the boys in Blue ‘n Gold and they receive a bye next Sunday. Foireann : David Rogers, Liam O Brien, Brian LOnergan, Cillian Gallagher, Barry Lyons, David Nolan Tioghe, Joshua O Keeffe, Tadhg Brick, Keelan Brosnan, Kieran Coggins, Darragh

Comhairle na Mumhan Activity Day Our U-12 team are honoured to be invited to participate in the annual Comhairle na Mumhan Activity Day
in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney on Wed July 18th. It will be a fabulous opportunity for all our budding U-12 stars to play a
mini-blitz on the hallowed turf of Fitzgerald Stadium. We are expected to arrive in Killarney at 10 30am and then from 11 am to 12 noon we
will play 3 games against Currow, Dromtarriff and Listry. There will also be a guest speaker giving us a mini-tour and history of the stadium.
Further information about the event from Cathaoirleach, Jer Lynch.
Annual John Mitchels Blitz
Last Saturday both our U-8s and U-10s participated in the blitz and it was a great success once again. Our U-8s were in devastating form as
they won through to the final, having beaten St. Pats, John Mitchels, Churchill and Austin Stacks in the Round-Robin phase. Unfortunately,
we came up against a very talented Milltown/Castlemaine team in the final and lost out by two points on a scoreline of 0-04 to 0-02. Those
to impress on the day were Sean Rice, Jared O Briain, Aidan and Luke Horgan, Eoin Creedon, Maurice O Connell, Garry Lynch, Adam Wharton,
Tommy Palmer, Jack Flaherty, James Kenny, Jack O Connor, Michael Prendergast, Raymond Lowe, Donal Daly, Mark O Connor, Niall Collins, Andy Rogers. It was a magnificent achievement by our young stars and great credit is due to team mentors Eddie O Connell, Fintan Kelly and Ger Collins who have guided this team over the past few months.
Our U-10s were also in action and played a total of 5 games in the League phase. In Rd 1 we played Milltown/Castlemaine and what proved
to be a very tight game ended in a draw. Eoghan Kenny, Darragh Broderick and Jonathan Lowe impressed in this opening fixture.
Rd 2 saw us play St Pats and after competent displays by Tim Pollman Daaman, Cathal Culloty and Ciaran Brosnan emerged as winners.
Churchill were next up for Ballymac and ultimately they proved just that little bit too strong for us, winning by a mere two points, despite the brave efforts of Dylan Dunne Moriarty and Sean Pollman Daaman. We played John Mitchels in Rd 4 and spurred on by the previous loss, we ran out comfortable winners with Adam Kelly, Ryan McHugh, Darragh Leen and Sean Horan in impressive form. Our final game against Na Gaeil was a nail biting one but with Brian Cassidy, and Adam O Keeffe, in imperious form we emerged victorious. It was an outstanding display by Ballymac all throughout the day and we wish Adam Joy a speedy recovery having sustained an arm injury during Game 2. Many thanks to team mentors Liam Joy, Mike Brosnan and Eddie Lynch for a job well done.
