FAOI 14: U14 Ballymac 2-7 Ardfert 2-5
Our second round game of Coiste Trá Lí was played last Wednesday evening 4th September in Ballymac where our U14s were pushed all the way by a very physical and organised Ardfert team. It took some courageous defending and well worked counter attacking from Ballymac to earn a victory.
Similar to our first round match we allowed the opposition off to a flying start with two early goals but with a point from Keelan Brosnan and a goal and two points from Darragh Regan we found ourselves back in the game. Ardfert added three more points and Michael Hoare kicking a point for Ballymac to leave the half time score Ardfert 2-03 Ballymac 1-04.
For the second week in a row Ballymac started the second half in flying form, this time it was an absolute cracker of a goal from the boot of Keelan Brosnan to put us a point ahead for the first time in the game, a lead we did not give up. Holding Ardfert to only two points in this half we witnessed some excellent defending from our six backs and an outstanding point blank save from our goalkeeper David Rodgers, who sustained a head injury in his bravery to keep Ardfert at bay. Our counter attacking game worked well on the night with Keelan Brosnan adding two more points and Darragh Regan kicking another point to leave full time score Ballymac 2-07 Ardfert 2-05.
In what was a very physical match with some excellent defending Ballymac will have questions to answer, notable that all our scores came from just three players.
We play Austin Stacks B next Wednesday 11th September in Connolly Park at 6.30pm in what is now a must win game as top team goes straight into the Final.
A speedy recovery to David Rodgers and best wishes to Barry Lyons who is recovering after an operation.

FAOI 12: U12 Central Region. Ballymac B 5-15 Milltown B 0-4.
Our boys played Milltown on a beautiful Monday evening in Ballymac. The lads put in a great performance against a hardy Milltown, from the thrown in the boys showed wonderful team play and picked off some lively scores. Jack Tobin was a handful in full forward and Jonathan Lowe excelled at half back. Adam Kelly cleared any danger that presented in the full back line. We had the luxury of making a lot of positional changes and the lads got a taste of the action in defence and the forward line. Our final game in the Central Region was away to Desmonds on Monday 9th September. A win for the B team will see them crowned champions. Score was not available at time of going to print.

Players to impress at the under nine game were Darragh Sweeney, Mossie Brennan, Luke O’Connell and Jamie Sugrue. Equally impressive were Adam Kelly, Andy Rogers, Mark O’Connor and Denis Brosnan for the under ten boys. The u8 boys were also impressive against Ardfert. Well Done to Jack O’Flaherty, Niall Collins, William O’Donoghue, Sean Rice, Luke Horgan and Michael Culloty. Keep up the great work boys. The girls were also inspiring on Sunday with Niamh Lynch, Aideen Lynch, Holly Geary and Roisin Long showing some great skill and technique.
